I’m looking for a responsible, emotionally stable, and cat-loving female roommate to share my home in Washington, DC. This is ideal for a commuting college faculty member, graduate student, or visiting scholar seeking an affordable, safe, and convenient weekday space with excellent metro access and a quiet, comfortable home. Ideally, I would like to have the house to myself on the weekends.

The Space
The available room is a private bedroom (120sq ft) with essentially your own bathroom—I primarily use the downstairs one. The house is 3 floors, has a fully equipped kitchen, cozy living room, patio for relaxing, washer and dryer in the finished basement. There is a custom-built bookshelf that comes with the room, so plenty of book storage.

If you have a smaller vehicle, there is off-street parking available for an extra fee directly behind the house, which is rare in DC and very convenient.

The location is a five-minute walk to Fort Totten Metro, connecting to the Green, Yellow, and Red lines, offering quick, easy access to downtown DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia. The neighborhood is up-and-coming, with new developments including a music venue and children’s museum.

Rent & Responsibilities
Rent: $700/month (not including utilities, which we would share) – well below the typical rent for this area.

The discount is in exchange for occasional cat care when I’m away. I have three cats, one of whom needs medication twice a day. I also take care of a colony of ferals (they're low maintenance).

Reliability is key, so you must be comfortable caring for cats and administering medication (via treats, which is easy).
