Open room in a San Mateo house with 1 roommate

Hi, everyone!

I'm looking for a new roommate to move into a house I’m renting, and the move-in date would be May 2, 2026. Here are the rental details:

The Open Room
- 176 square feet of open floor space
- Walk-in closet (45 square feet)
- Private en suite bathroom with shower, bathtub and 2 sinks (108 square feet)

The House
- 1 roommate (me)
- 1,950 square feet
- 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms
- In-unit washer and dryer
- Full kitchen with dishwasher
- 2 furnished living rooms
- Street parking (but it's fairly easy to find spots)

The Location
- Shoreview neighborhood in San Mateo
- 7-min drive to downtown San Mateo
- 10-min walk to Bay Trail
- Close proximity to 101 highway

The Contract
- Move-in date of May 2, 2026
- $2,500 rent per month + utilities (this is what the previous roommate was paying because the open room is much larger than the other bedrooms, but it's negotiable and I'm happy to find a rent price that works for everyone)
- Month-to-month contract with a 2-month notice required to vacate
- Landlord requires credit and background check before approval

About Me:
I’m a 36-year old man working at a small bookstore. I live a pretty quiet life and spend most of my time at home reading or watching TV (with headphones on if it’s late evening hours). In a shared living situation, I try my best to make the situation work for everyone - I clean up after myself, treat people with respect, listen to feedback, and compromise. Ultimately, I just want a home that’s clean, peaceful and harmonious.

A few other things about me - I play percussion in a local community band, so I’d love to jam sometime if you play an instrument! I also have a wide variety of interests, and some of the things I like include TV ensemble comedies (Parks & Rec, The Good Place, etc.), Janelle Monae’s music, Kazuo Ishiguro’s novels, RPG video games, Minnesota Timberwolves basketball, and heavily discounted donuts on the Too Good to Go app.

I’m open to all ages and genders. Couples are also welcome if you're open to splitting rent/utilities somewhat evenly between the 3 of us, and there's an additional open bedroom/bathroom that you could have as well. Please DM me if you’re interested or have any questions!
