Room in 2BR apartment avail for $700 - Jersey City

Hello! I’m presently in search of a roommate to share my two-bedroom apartment in Jersey City, NJ. A September 1st move-in would be most ideal, but I can be flexible on the date. I’m asking for $700 a month in rent & to split utilities.

I've lived by myself in this apartment for about 6 years & really love the neighborhood. After being laid off from my job last year & going through a period of unemployment (I'm now back to work), I decided to get a roommate in order to improve my finances. Such is the reality of our economy these days.

I’m in my mid-40s and previously worked as a video producer, but am in the process of changing careers. I still do some work in that world, and am also working as a FedEx driver for the time being. I live with two cats and a small dog (they are very lovable). When I’m not working, I enjoy going to the gym, reading, and (quietly) recording music. I’m a non-smoker & enjoy a glass of wine here and there, but am otherwise not a big drinker. I'm also a vegetarian, but it's okay if you aren't. On most Saturday nights / Sunday mornings, the dog and I are away at my girlfriend’s place in New York.

I’m friendly, easy-going, mature, clean, quiet, responsible, respectful, drama-free, tolerant, and low-maintenance all-around, and just need someone reliable who’s on the same level. Either male or female is fine (I’m LGBTQ+ friendly). I would prefer the person be at least in their early 30s or close to it, and be able to show proof of steady employment. No partiers, MAGA types, or hard drug users. I’m respectful of people’s privacy, and am committed to creating a harmonious, equitable living arrangement built on mutual respect. Ideally, I’d like to find someone for a longterm arrangement (at least a year), but am open to discussing other scenarios. Unfortunately, I cannot accommodate couples or pairs, additional animals, or any children.

The building is located on a quiet street across from a park in Jersey City Heights, which is a lovely, chill neighborhood with a family-oriented vibe, and which offers several convenient commute options into New York City. The room itself is 9.5 feet by 8 feet and unfurnished.
