Location and light! Located across the street from the National Zoo, and 10-minute walk to either Woodley Park or Cleveland Park metro stations, L2 bus stop and bike share in front of building,. Sunny, spacious room with tons of storage. Plenty of space between bedrooms that allows for as much privacy as you'd like when you want it. The building has a Fitness Center, a package locker system for safely stowing your Amazon and other deliveries, shared laundry room on same floor as apartment.
Apartment available after 1/1. It is currently minimally furnished but can be unfurnished if that better suits your needs.
My favorite building feature is the huge enclosed courtyard that is beautifully landscaped, featuring blooming cherry and other trees, and includes a fountain and permanent natural gas grills and picnic tables. Granted, will have to wait a few months to enjoy it, but it is an urban oasis where I spend a lot of time (and cook a lot of meals). The community is very diverse and incredibly warm and friendly.
The businesses on the street level (and right outside the front doors) include Starbucks, a bakery, liquor store, Duke's Counter restaurant, and soon a felafel shop and a Jersey Mike's. The Cleveland Park shopping area features two grocery stores (Yes! and Streets Market), a small Target, post office, DC library, CVS, and many small restaurants and shops. Woodley Park (same dsitance, other direction) also features restaurants, another CVS, dry cleaner, and very soon also a new grocery store. Easy access to walking, jogging, and biking paths in Rock Creek Park and Klingle Valley.
I am an Office Manager for a nonprofit research organization and in the office Mon-Thurs, WFH on Fridays and take a lot of weekend trips. I am tidy but not a clean freak, don't sweat the small stuff, and happy to share meals and conversations. The building is 100 years old, so some cosmetic flaws, but we call that character :-)
The managemet does not require me to add a roommate to the lease, but there is a background check you would need to complete in order to become a "registered occuapant". We can draft a roommate agreement for peace-of-mind for both of us.
