Large Room in Great Group House, red line metro

We have one bedroom currently available for rent in a spacious 6 bedroom / 3 bathroom group house located in uptown NW DC. Our house is a ten-minute walk to the Takoma metro station (on the red line) and the nearby Takoma Park historic district with a good selection of bars/restaurants, cafes, shops, and a year-round farmers market.

The bedroom for rent for $875/month is on the first floor. It is 135 sq feet (13’ x 10’) and is carpeted. It has 2 windows and built-in closets. You would share a bathroom, also on the first floor, with one other housemate. The room is unfurnished, the kitchen, living and dining rooms and other common areas are fully furnished.

Utilities (electric, gas, water/sewer and high-speed internet) range from $80 to $130 depending on the season.

The spacious house (2,600 sq feet) has a huge kitchen, with a central island, granite countertops and stainless-steel appliances. There are 2 refrigerators, 2 dishwashers, 2 sinks with garbage disposals, a gas oven/stove, a second electric cooktop in the kitchen island, and a built-in microwave. There is a large common living area and dining room, a sunroom that overlooks the outdoor patio, plus another den/living area upstairs. The house has central air conditioning, and a washer and dryer.

The house is across the street from the Takoma Recreation Center that has swimming pools, tennis courts, basketball courts, and several playing fields. It’s a charming, peaceful neighborhood that has lots of green space and plenty of biking and walking trails nearby and easy access to DC neighborhoods. Whole Foods, Safeway, Lidl, Giant, Walmart and several small organic Co-ops are in the vicinity. Free street parking is plentiful; one off-street parking space is available for an additional $30/month.

The current roommates are in their 20’s and 30’s, a mix of professionals and fulltime students. They keep the house clean and tidy, pick up after themselves, put dishes away, etc. and they take pride in their home. They are respectful and considerate of others and noise levels. Schedules vary. On weekends and evenings they'll sometimes hang out together, but they are also independent and have their own friends and busy lives.
