Furnished basement space: June 13 - August 9

The guest space occupies the fully finished basement level of a renovated historic row house in Bloomingdale, NW DC. The basement level functions almost like a private suite within the home. Includes a private furnished bedroom, luxury en-suite bathroom with Carrara marble countertops and a glass-enclosed marble subway tile shower, and a separate private lounge with large flatscreen and all streaming platforms — plus direct backyard access.

The laundry room is also on the basement level and is shared (owner accesses once or twice per week). The staircase connecting the basement to the main floor does not have a door — the space is genuinely yours, but part of a warm and connected household.

Shared upstairs: a genuinely excellent kitchen (six-burner Jenn-Air gas range with double oven, Jenn-Air French door refrigerator, Jenn-Air microwave drawer, KitchenAid dishwasher, Carrara marble countertops, apron-front farmhouse sink, All-Clad cookware, stocked pantry), dining room seating six, a main floor living room with bay windows and an original Victorian fireplace, back patio with seating and string lights, and laundry.

$5,000 all-inclusive for the full term (June 13–August 9) — covers all utilities, Wi-Fi, streaming platforms, off-street parking, and bi-weekly professional cleaning of all spaces.

I'm a nonprofit professional who works from home most of the week. The house has a calm, steady rhythm — music in the background, cooking most evenings, the occasional dinner with friends or quiet night on the patio. I enjoy a good kitchen conversation or a glass of wine with a housemate, but I'm equally happy to give you your space. Follow your lead is my approach.

The house is full of character — original hardwood floors, dark wood trim, bay windows, an original Victorian fireplace, and objects collected through years of travel. Friends describe it as cozy, welcoming, and full of personality.

Also in residence: Biscuit, a 13-year-old French Bulldog who is sweet, calm, and widely considered the best thing about the house.
