Spacious room in Cap Hill! Available Dec 1.
Hey y’all, I'm looking for someone to fill a room in a 3-bed 3-bath townhome in Cap Hill! You'd take over my lease, beginning December 1, with an option to renew on March 1.
About the house:
Newer townhome 2 blocks from Pike and Pine and the heart of Capitol Hill. 5-10 minute walk to countless bars and restaurants, Seattle U, Cal Anderson, Neumos, Chop Suey, Queer Bar, and so on. The townhome has 4 internal floors with the common areas on the main floor. Each person has their own floor with a bedroom and a private bathroom. Washer and dryer is in-unit on the 2nd floor. The living room has a heat pump (AC and heat). Every bedroom and bathroom has a heater. The finishes are a nice touch and include: cherry wood floors and stone tile throughout the house, stainless steel appliances, gas stove, marble countertops, and farmhouse sink in the kitchen. The living room has a gas fireplace. Private outdoor spaces include a private roof and back patio. The private roof has views (shown in the pics) of Rainier, Cherry Hill, First Hill, the skyline, and a teeny bit of the needle and Olympics. Roof has a vegetated green roof, string lights, flower beds, a gas fire pit, and furniture. The backyard has a small wood deck with cafe seating and string lights and a small stone patio below. The next door neighbors are quiet and the neighborhood is slow and residential despite its proximity to everything. This townhome has been a great space for me and my roommates, allowing us to host friends and create a space for gathering. The landlord lives in one of the townhome units which is incredibly convenient for coordination and repairs. She’s very kind and receptive to questions. Her parents garden the property and grow fresh veggies and herbs on site that we’re free to gather.
About the room:
The basement room is large at approximately 22 ft x 9 ft. Right outside the room you'll have your own private bathroom. Both sides of the room have windows which open. There’s a short (4 ft) but deep under-stairs storage closet and a small normal-height closet. The under-stairs closet can fit a bike, boxes, clothing, and much more. This room has heat but no AC unit, though it stays cool in the summer with just a fan. Rent for this floor is $1350. About your new roommates:
Nico:
I’m a 29 year-old cis gay man and Midwestern transplant. I have no pets or partner. I work hybrid as a city planner. I’m personable, conscientious, communicative, and responsible. When seeking community, I love to advocate for state and local causes, go on outdoor adventures, explore new neighborhoods, go out for drinks and dancing, or stay in for a board game or scary movie night. In my personal time I enjoy working out, reading garbage romance novels, playing trumpet and piano, talking to my plants, taking pictures, biking, and cooking. I’m an avid runner and enjoy watching / playing just about any sport. My athletic goals for this year include running my first marathon, conquering the black runs at Stevens Pass, and distance biking. I’m excited to meet our next roomie!
Jeremy:
I'm a 30 year old gay man from the Great Plains! I've only lived in Seattle about a year and a half now, and I moved here after living in Washington, D. C. for 4 years and then traveling around the world for 2 more. I have a boyfriend who I sometimes stay with a weeknight or two. I help out at a family business up in Edmonds about 3-4 days a week, and the other two I'm doing computer work up in my room. I love to bike, swim, eat yummy plant-based food, and you can find me in the kitchen playing around with ingredients on the regular. I'm very low drama and pro communication so never be afraid to bring any issues up so we can work through them! In the winter you'll find me wrapped up in a blanket on the couch, but in the summer you'll find me at the beach or lounging in my hammock reading a sci-fi or fantasy novel. Can't wait to get to know you!
The vibes:
We’re looking for an accepting and energetic housemate to share our Seattle experience. We have full lives outside of the house but we’d love to cultivate a strong friendship. We’re down to go out on the town, escape to nature, have roomie nights in, decorate for the holidays (decorations shown in the pics), and host parties. We are receptive to out of town friends and family staying for the weekend, with coordination. The whole shebang. We hope to have the same sense of community and placemaking with you!
Parking:
Street parking is available and generally a spot doesn’t take more than a couple minutes to find within a block or two. You’ll get a neighborhood permit to allow for free street parking and our townhome has 1 guest pass for non-resident free street parking. You may talk with the landlord about a reserved uncovered spot in the alley. If available, it’s $150 per month.
Cost:
Rent is $1350. Rent doesn’t include utilities which are approx $125 a month depending on the season. Deposit is $1200. First month, last month, and deposit are due at signing. If you decide to renew in March, the rent will increase 5%.
