Private Bedroom + Bathroom in Beautiful Jackson Wa

Looking for a roommate for a really beautiful 2 bed / 2 bath apartment in Jackson Ward. Move-in date is October 1st. I’m asking $1,250/month for the back portion of the apartment, which includes your own private bedroom, bathroom, and access to a small porch/patio. The apartment would come unfurnished, so none of the furniture in the photos are included.

The back end of the apartment gives you a ton of space and privacy, so it feels like you have your own little section of the home while still sharing a place with a roommate. It’s a great setup if you value having your own space but still want to live with someone. I was originally planning to take this room myself, but decided to switch rooms because I think this setup gives a roommate much more privacy and makes the space feel more like their own.

The apartment is the upstairs portion of a recently gut-renovated house, so it has the best of both worlds: a ton of historic Richmond character, but everything feels fresh and updated. Hardwood floors, big windows, original details, fireplace, renovated bathrooms, in-unit laundry, and generally just a very cool old-house vibe.

Photos show the space furnished, but the apartment will be unfurnished.

A little about me: I’m a queer writer/journalist and author who recently moved to Richmond. I freelance for magazines and local publications and also work in hospitality. I’m pretty easygoing and looking for someone I can comfortably share a home with — respectful, communicative, reasonably clean, and generally has their shit together.

Open to a roommate of any gender. Politically, I’m definitely looking for someone who leans left/progressive and is LGBTQ+ friendly. Basically: be cool, be kind, and let’s create a home that feels comfortable and welcoming for both of us. I’ll do the same.
