Roommate Wanted To Rent 1Br In 3Br/1Ba House

Hi, we're at 38M/33F couple looking for a roommate(s) to rent out a single bedroom a 3br/1ba 1700 sq ft house on Barbee Street. Our current roommates are moving out at the end of May, so the move-in date is flexible. Length of lease is also flexible. Landlords are long-time owners of the house that used to live there as a family.

I work as a researcher at Rice University and my girlfriend is enrolled in a PhD program in Albuquerque, NM. We commute back and forth, so she'll be at the house a fair amount and I'll be out of the house in NM regularly. We have two cats, who also sometimes commute with us. The cats (Henry & Malcolm) will be in the house this summer during move in and they hate other cats and dogs. So ideally you love cats but you cannot have any of your own.

The house is furnished, but the bedroom will not be. There is space for additional furniture, if needed. There's two large living areas and a third bedroom and sunroom we use as home offices. There's also a two car garage and ample street parking, with a small attic for additional storage. Medium sized front and backyard, with a basketball hoop, outdoor ping pong table, and small vegetable garden. Big kitchen with gas stove and up-to-date appliances. Entire plumbing system was just overhauled in 2023, so there's a new water heater and the shower has good water pressure. W/D are in the main house and work great.

Total rent is $1700 and we split both rent and utilities. There is central air and heating. It's an ~1960s brick house that is not well insulated, so electricity bills can be somewhat high during the summer. We also pay internet, gas, water. All together that works out to between $250-550 total depending on the season.
