Melinda and I (Kevin) are looking to add one more person to our household. Will it be you?

The Apartment:
Located in the Inner Sunset at 9th and Noriega, this 3-bedroom, 2-bath apartment occupies the entire second floor of a classic walk-up. Common areas are sun-drenched and west-facing, and there’s a fabulous back deck with views of Twin Peaks that we’re excited to improve. Downstairs neighbors are friendly, and the apartment is incredibly quiet—though the fog can be thick. We also have free access to the back yard, should developing a garden be of interest.

We’re close to the Moraga Steps, Golden Gate Heights Park, and the JP Murphy tennis courts. Transit is solid: the 6 runs right in front, the 43 and 44 are two blocks away, the N Judah is down the hill, and Forest Hill is about 15 minutes away on foot. The hill is beasty (great for your legs), but we’re quite centrally located.

Common areas are mostly furnished, with some room if you have items to bring. Kitchen appliances were replaced two weeks ago (new fridge, stove, and dishwasher). New blinds are coming, and the carpets are being professionally cleaned.

The Bedroom, Bathroom & Office:
The available bedroom is the largest in the apartment, measuring 11’9” x 15’, and comes with its own bathroom. It also includes a small, separate office (approximately 4.5’ x 8’) with built-in shelving and space for a small shelf. It’s not huge, but past roommates have happily used it as an office. They found it lovely having a separate office space. I even slept there for a few months before moving to France. A large window brings in plenty of light, and it’s very quiet.

Parking is included: we have a spot in front of the house (details to be shared with applicants). Street parking is also relatively easy in this part of the city, though best suited to smaller vehicles (think Honda Civic). We also have storage space in the garage.

Rent
$2,000 + utilities. Security deposit also of $2000
****This amount is variable (but never more than $2000) - Melinda and I have some additional apartment configuration options that we will discuss with interested applicants.

We have listed the move-in date for February 1st but we are flexible.

About Us
Melinda and I lived together many years ago, and I’ve just returned from six years in Paris and am moving back into my former apartment while I reestablish myself in SF. Melinda has run a successful landscaping company in San Francisco for 25 years, recently earned her arborist certification, and when she’s not home, she’s usually out hugging trees. She’s 52; I’m 43.

We both have long histories of successful co-living and aren’t looking to disrupt that. We are still good friends with our former roomies. We’re hoping to find someone we genuinely enjoy living with—we want someone we look forward to having coffee with in the morning. That’s our biggest criteria. :)

We value cleanliness but aren’t neat freaks. We’re seasoned adults looking for a mature, responsible, and kind person who pays rent on time. We don’t have unreasonable expectations and we expect (haha) that you don’t either. Good communication, an open mind, and occasional accountability go a long way.

We also love to host family and friends when they come to stay, so someone open to that is an absolute must (your friends and family can come too of course).

For clarity: I’m a gay man, and Melinda is a queer woman.

The Cat
The apartment comes with one cat, Emmy. She’s adjusting to her new life as an American and has decided she doesn’t need an animal companion at this time. She asked me to communicate her most profound, French ennui-based sorrow to you.
