Welcome to Queens — Spider-Man's home borough — and Jackson Heights, birthplace of Scrabble and a little piece of NYC history.

We’re looking for one long-term roommate for a bright, sunshine- and moonlight-filled west-facing top-floor bedroom in the heart of Jackson Heights, right by beautiful Paseo Park.

You’ll be sharing the entire apartment with just ONE other person — no multiple-roommate situation and no revolving short-term guests.

The flat has an open, airy feel with lots of natural light and is surrounded by tree-lined streets, historic garden apartment buildings and one of the most diverse neighborhoods in New York City.

This is a home rather than a short-term rental, and we're hoping to find someone who would like to settle in and make it their home too.

It’s a wonderful flat in a genuinely special part of Queens — peaceful and residential when you want it to be, but with Manhattan incredibly easy to reach.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD

One of the best things about the location is having Paseo Park practically in your backyard — a beautiful green pedestrian corridor running through Jackson Heights that's great for walking, running, biking, yoga, reading or simply sitting outside.

Travers Park, one of the neighborhood's main gathering places, is about a 10–15 minute walk away, with green space, basketball and tennis courts and regular community activities.

The year-round Jackson Heights Greenmarket takes place every Sunday by Travers Park. Farmers, fishers and small producers travel into Jackson Heights from the Hudson Valley, upstate New York and the surrounding region, bringing seasonal produce, pasture-raised meats and eggs, wild-caught fish and shellfish, local cheeses and dairy, honey, maple syrup, breads and other small-batch New York specialties.

It's one of my favorite neighborhood rituals and one of those things that makes Jackson Heights feel like an actual community rather than simply somewhere to sleep.

GROCERIES & EVERYDAY LIFE

Everyday errands are incredibly easy here.

Food Bazaar on Junction Boulevard is nearby — a huge 24-hour international supermarket with fresh produce, meat and seafood, bakery items, household necessities, everyday groceries and an enormous selection of international foods.

There are also fruit markets, bakeries, pharmacies, cafés and specialty grocery stores throughout the neighborhood.

You can comfortably live here without needing a car.

GETTING AROUND

Jackson Heights gives you the best of both worlds: a real residential NYC neighborhood with excellent access to Manhattan and the rest of the city.

7 train: approximately 5–10 minutes on foot, depending on the station
E/F/M/R express trains at 74th St–Roosevelt Ave: approximately 12–15 minutes on foot
Midtown Manhattan / MoMA: approximately 25–30 minutes by subway
LaGuardia Airport: approximately 15–20 minutes by bus/car, depending on traffic
Citi Field: just a few stops away on the 7
USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center / US Open: also just a few stops away

ONE OF NYC'S GREAT FOOD NEIGHBORHOODS

If you love food, this is an incredible place to live.

Jackson Heights and neighboring Elmhurst have one of the most extraordinary concentrations of cuisines in NYC. Within walking distance you'll find Colombian, Mexican, Ecuadorian, Venezuelan, Tibetan, Nepali, Indian, Bangladeshi, Thai, Filipino, Greek and many other cuisines — from tiny family-run restaurants and street vendors to acclaimed restaurants.

Nearby favorites include Angel Indian Restaurant, which has received Michelin recognition, plus countless neighborhood places you'll discover simply by walking around.

For live music, Terraza 7, one of Queens' beloved jazz and world-music venues, is nearby and regularly hosts musicians from NYC and around the world.

A LITTLE JACKSON HEIGHTS HISTORY

Jackson Heights isn't just another residential neighborhood. Much of it is an official NYC Historic District, famous for its beautiful early-20th-century garden apartment buildings.

Scrabble was invented right here in Jackson Heights by architect Alfred Mosher Butts, who lived in the neighborhood. The Community United Methodist Church on 82nd Street commemorates the neighborhood's Scrabble connection with its famous Scrabble-style street sign.

Legendary guitarist and inventor Les Paul also lived in Jackson Heights and experimented with electric-guitar and recording technology here.

Alfred Hitchcock used Jackson Heights as a location for his 1956 film The Wrong Man, starring Henry Fonda, shooting portions of the movie in the actual neighborhood where the real events occurred. Charlie Chaplin used to live in the Towers, 9 blocks down Paseo Park.

And you're living in Queens — Spider-Man's home borough. Peter Parker is traditionally a Forest Hills kid, so we'll let our neighbors a few stops away claim his exact address. :)

WHAT IT'S LIKE TO LIVE HERE

Jackson Heights feels very different from Manhattan.

It's greener, more residential and extraordinarily international. You'll hear multiple languages simply walking a few blocks. Generations of immigrant New Yorkers have made the neighborhood home, it has a strong LGBTQ+ community, and there's a genuine neighborhood culture here.

At the same time, Manhattan is incredibly easy to reach.

You can walk or run through Paseo Park in the morning, grab momos or Colombian coffee around the corner, commute into Manhattan, and come home to a neighborhood where people actually know their local restaurants, shopkeepers and neighbors.
