Room in Whitestone, NY
Hello! I have a room available.
If you want to come in to tour the apartment, please feel free to schedule a time with me.
The apartment is on the third floor of the building. Each floor is its own apartment. The room does have a shared bathroom (the one in the hallway) with me.
The rooms dimensions are 16 ft by 9 ft, the closet is 5 ft by 2.2 feet. The room doesn't come furnished, but the common areas are. Once you move in, you can feel free to use literally anything in the common areas. It's your space.
The apartment doesn't have laundry, but there is a laundromat nearby. We don't have any pets.
If you commute to Manhattan, you can easily take the LIRR or the express bus. Both would get you there for about $5-7.50 per way. OR you could take a bus or drive to the subway in Flushing.
The lease would start in July, but if I find a roommate who's a good match, I'm willing to wait since I really just want to make sure that I pick someone who is easy to live with and respectful.
The rent doesn't include electricity or internet. We split that. It's usually $30-100 per person for electricity. In the summer, the AC makes it go up. Internet is $30 each per person per month.
I'm looking for someone who is willing to communicate (since we probably will bother each other sometimes), clean (but not obssessive), and on time with rent.
A little bit about me:
I've been living in New York for a while now. I'm really happy in my apartment. My roommate is about to move out. We have been living together for three, almost four years, so I am very sad to see her go. You will probably see her if you come in to do a tour of the apartment since she's currently packing up everything. She leaves at the end of June 2026. To be honest, I'm a bit scared to try living with someone else again since I really do love living with my roommate, but I grew up in a big family, so I hate living alone, and I really do like having someone around, even if we only occasionally socialize. I'm also saving up for a house, so living alone in a two bedroom doesn't make a lot of sense.
I'm an English and science teacher. I just got my PhD from Columbia, so I'm now working in pediatric neurology research. I do that in the mornings/afternoon and teach at an after school program in the afternoons. I am hoping to find a roommate who is chill and easy to live with since my schedule is really hectic sometimes. When it comes to living with me, I'm just big on communication. If I ever do anything to bother or vex you, please let me know. I want to make sure you like living here just as much as I do.
I rarely have company over. I prefer to go out with friends, rather than to have them over, but if I ever do have anyone over, I will always let you know and ask.
