Room for Rent (lease takeover)

Hi all, me and my current roommate are currently looking for another person to take over the remaining lease/rent of our two roommates that are leaving towards the end of this month/early august as they shared a room.

The remaining few months of our lease is about 7 months, ending towards the end of January of 2027. Our rent alone is $3450, so you would most likely be paying $1150 a month, along with our shared wifi and utility bill that we also split equally.

Pets are welcome, but please be advised that we already do have 4 cats (all girls, one spayed, one getting spayed in august, and two not spayed) so we would prefer only one extra pet, in which you would have to be the one maintaining. There are no extra pet fees or anything regarding your pet(s), so that is a plus as well.

Prior to moving in you would have to complete our management company’s approval process, which does include your portion of first month’s rent + a $1725 security deposit (paid directly to the roommates leaving) and a $250 management fee.

You would most likely be staying in the biggest room, which has a bathroom, equipped with a shower or the second biggest room, sharing a bathroom with my remaining roommate, in which has a tub (in which we’ll see when the time comes). Although your room wouldn’t be furnished, the apartment living and kitchen area are fully furnished, but we wouldn’t mind any extra furniture if anything, our living area does include a balcony.

Me and my other roommate are 18 (female) and 20 (male), so we would prefer someone within our age range (18-21). We aren’t just looking for someone who’s clean, respectful, trustworthy and reliable, but also fun, friendly and outgoing as we aren’t just friends, but also a family and we do enjoy group outings/hangouts from time to time as well. We are okay with those who smoke (as long as it’s on/near the balcony or in your room), and we are more than happy to welcome those apart of the LGBTQ+ community.

Guests are always welcome as well, whether that’s an overnight stay or not, as long as they’re respectful of our area and apartment. We are located in a quiet neighborhood in Astoria, queens and are conveniently close to many buses and trains, stores, supermarkets, food areas and laundromats, directly just a few minutes away from midtown, manhattan.
