Hi! I’m looking for a roommate to join me on my lease in my cozy, quiet, two-bedroom apartment in Astoria in August (ideal date August 1st but move-in can flex). The lease dates would be August 1st 2025 - July 31st, 2026.

About the place:

* Your half of rent would be $1450 plus utilities (sharing electric, gas, and internet)
* Your room is about 13 x 8 feet with a closet (!) and easily fits a full size bed, a desk, and a dresser.
* Sadly the building is pet-free
* Guarantors are accepted
* No laundry in the building, but there’s a laundromat about a 3 minute walk away!
* Heat is included in rent, there is no A/C but window units are easy to install
* Located on the second floor of a 2-story building
* One-bathroom

The neighborhood is super peaceful, LGBTQ friendly, and in a fantastic location. It’s only a 7 minute walk to the M/R Subway line and within walking distance to shops and restaurants on Steinway, Broadway, and 30th Ave. We’re also a block away from a park / playground. I’ve lived here for two years and really love the apartment and neighborhood (the food is especially great!)

About me:

I’m a 29-year-old graduate student in English literature who will be going in to work in Manhattan about 3 days a week. I’m LGBTQ-friendly, have recently gotten into salsa dancing, love to try out new restaurants, and am a big reader and writer. I also love all things Moomin if you've read the books by Tove Jansson! I’m very interested in making the apartment feel like a welcoming home, and am looking for someone who similarly is conscious of creating a shared space. Please reach out if you're interested!
