Hi! I (32M) am looking for a roommate to join the lease for my 2BR/1BA apartment in Sellwood. It’s on the first floor of a 2-family house in a quiet residential neighborhood.

The room:
• 9'8" x 10'6"
• Two closets
• Unfurnished, so you can set it up however you'd like
• Spare A/C available if needed
• Additional ~330 sq ft of semi-finished basement space for your personal use/storage

Shared spaces:
• Kitchen
• Bathroom
• Dining room
• Living room
• Washer/dryer in the basement, just for our unit
• 1-car garage for storage/bikes
• Street parking directly in front of the house

The house has a wrap-around porch, grapevines out front, and a side garden. The landlord lives down the street and handles the landscaping.

Rent & lease:
• $1,200/month, utilities included
• Lease runs through June 30, 2027
• Ideally looking for someone who can move in September or October
• No smoking/vaping inside
• No pets permitted on the lease, unfortunately

The location is great for getting around without driving. We’re about a 5–15 minute walk from shops, restaurants, New Seasons, and the Springwater Corridor. The 40 (goes downtown) and 70 (goes to Milwaukie and Lloyd District) bus lines are about 5 blocks away.

About the living situation:
I’m generally pretty quiet at home. I might watch a show or football game in the evening, and I have a weekly virtual game/TV night with friends. On weekends, I’m usually out doing my own thing: going to the gym, grocery shopping, biking, etc. Otherwise, I might be meal-prepping.

I work from home 1–2 days a week, usually from a desk in the corner of the dining room. I always use headphones while working, and I’m comfortable with a roommate using the common areas while I work. If you work from home, you’re also welcome to use the dining room as a workspace during the day when needed. I’d just ask that we both be considerate about noise when the other person is working or on a call. I’m also open to moving my desk into my bedroom if that makes the shared space work better.

I’m pretty tidy and generally clean up as I go. On a busy week, I might leave dishes in the sink for a bit, but they’ll be taken care of within a day.

I rarely drink, don’t use cannabis, and rarely have people over. My long-distance girlfriend may visit for about 1–2 weeks in January, but otherwise I don't expect the apartment to be a particularly social or high-traffic place.

I have celiac disease, so I need a roommate who is willing to be intentional about kitchen cleanliness and avoiding cross-contamination. You do not need to be gluten-free, but shared kitchen surfaces and utensils would need to be kept clean.

About me:
I’m 32, a public health scientist, and fairly new to Portland. I enjoy biking, hiking, indie music, board games, rock climbing, and football. I also travel fairly regularly for work, so I’m not always around.

I’m open to becoming friends with a roommate and hanging out occasionally, but I’m not looking for a built-in social situation at home. At baseline, I’m looking for a respectful, communicative, clean roommate who is comfortable sharing a quieter home.
