Room for Rent in Maywood Park – $700/month
Hey! We're Theo and Greg, and we have a room opening up in our house in Maywood Park.
I've (Theo) been renting rooms in this house for about seven years and have met some amazing people. Our process is pretty simple: send us an email telling us about yourself, we'll invite our favorite candidates over to see the place and make sure everyone clicks, then we choose our new housemate together.
About Us
Theo (he/him, 40) – Photographer, amateur mechanic, karaoke enthusiast, and video game nerd. I'm usually in and out for work, but most evenings I'm just hanging around the house. My partner Poe is over often but doesn't live here full-time. Every year we do the Gambler 500, so bonus points if you're into weird automotive adventures.
Greg – Into bikes, photography, cool hats, and occasionally serenading the house with his saxophone. Super friendly and always happy to chat.
We're probably a good fit if you:
Don't have cats (sorry, allergies) and any dog is exceptionally well-behaved.
Have stable income and can comfortably afford $700 rent plus utilities (about $200/month).
Are good with a month-to-month lease and a $500 security deposit.
Clean up after yourself and help keep common areas pleasant.
Aren't over 6' if you plan to use the built-in bed (or are willing to build a platform for a queen mattress like previous tenants have).
Are generally drama-free. Everyone has rough days, but this is a peaceful house.
Smoke outside (a quick bong rip is whatever—just don't hotbox the house).
Enjoy a social house. You don't have to party, but sometimes we have friends over and you're always welcome.
Aren't racist, homophobic, transphobic, or fascist. Fuck ICE.
The House
Two bathrooms.
Amazing kitchen if you love to cook (just wash your dishes).
Living room projector for movie nights.
Plenty of basement storage.
Great porch with serious forest vibes.
Right on the I-205 Multi-Use Path.
About a 10-minute walk to Parkrose Transit Center.
Plenty of street parking.
The Room
It's small but ridiculously charming.
Fresh paint before move-in (pick the color if you're quick).
Built-in twin bed, dresser, and closet.
Huge crawl space for extra storage (or whatever weird project you dream up).
Previous tenants have built a platform for a queen mattress, and I'd happily help do that again.
Current photos are a little dated because the room is getting refreshed before it's available.
Bonus
We'll also have a second room opening around the beginning of August. If you're looking with a friend or want first dibs on that room too, let me know.
Interested?
Tell us about yourself: what you do, hobbies, pets, car, what you're looking for in a house, and anything else you'd want potential roommates to know. The more, the better—we'd rather know too much than not enough.
If it sounds like a good fit, we'll invite you over to check out the room and meet everyone.
