Room For Rent in South Salem

We are looking for a tenant to rent a partially furnished room on the second story in our South Salem home. You will also have your own bathroom. The bathroom is not attached to your room, but you will not have to share it with anyone. This is a great opportunity for someone who needs a more economical option. Portland is only 50 miles from us by car, so if you work in the surrounding areas this is very doable if you have reliable transportation.

Rent Details:

Rent is $800 per month with a deposit of $500

This includes utilities, WIFI, washer and dryer, street parking, and a bi-monthly cleaning service for the house.

Sorry, we’re not open to negotiating any work in exchange for rent arrangements.

Use of common areas and raised back patio.

We have a full refrigerator in the kitchen as you can see from the photos and another one in the garage. We are ok with sharing fridge space, but we can give you full use of the one in the garage if you prefer.

You will have a television in your room, and if you want access to our streaming services – we can negotiate that but there would be an extra monthly charge.

We’re willing to negotiate purchasing a desk or dresser for the room, if you feel strongly about that.

What we’re looking for:

Someone single with no pets -- we already have a dog and two cats

Clean and respectful—we like a clean home – we’re not asking for perfection just be sanitary and reasonable.

No smoking or vaping in the house -- we have a raised back patio with seating if you want to smoke

No other drugs

Someone who is sociable and pleasant but mostly keeps to them self

No house parties

About Us:

We are a middle age couple with a full inclusion philosophy-- meaning we respect and value human difference

We both work from home much of the time – so the person would need to be ok with that.

Our hobbies are formula 1 racing, cooking, reading and occasionally having friends over for dinner.

We are mostly home bodies and one of us is extremely introverted.

This would be a private landlord arrangement, but we would ask you to provide income verification, references, and a background check that you would pay for – these are usually around 50 dollars.

If you have any special circumstances, we might be willing to negotiate – depending on what they are – we know life happens.

We would ask you to sign a lease—this is for all of our protection

We are open to month-to-month, six month, or one year leases.
