Garden Facing Room in Harlem Brownstone

Hello! We’re looking for a roommate to join our lease on December 1 in our spacious four-bedroom, three-bathroom shared brownstone in Harlem. There will be three other roommates including yourself in this large brownstone. We’re looking for someone who is familiar with shared spaces or is open to being part of a home that will need some care and cleaning occasionally.

The room you will be renting can come unfurnished or furnished with a bed, dresser, fan, etc. It has tall ceilings and great light with a view of the backyard, hardwood floors, and a walk-in closet. It’s nice and cozy in the winter and in the summer we recommend an AC unit.

The lease is a full year - till August 31st - with the possibility to renew. Ideally, we’d love to have someone creative, tidy, communicative, and community-oriented to share the space with us.

There are five floors in total. The basement with a washer and dryer, as well as access to the backyard. The first floor has a full kitchen, a seating area, and a pantry for dry goods. There is also a living room on this floor with a piano. The second floor has two bedrooms and a bathroom. The third floor has two bedrooms, a guest room, and a bathroom. This floor is where your room is located! Lastly, is the recently renovated attic with access to the roof and the third bathroom. The home has a lot of space to offer! We tend to spend time together on the first floor in the kitchen and enjoy dinner together occasionally but also respect each other’s space. We’re all creatives working in fields from curation, dance, product development, and production assisting which requires us to work primarily in person. Two of us work from home, occasionally, but if you primarily work from home this may suit your schedule well since the home is quiet during the day.

The home is located in the beautiful Hamilton Heights neighborhood. It tends to be busier during the week cause of the college nearby and chill on the weekends. Our block is well known for the Royal Tenenbaum house on the corner and down the street is the Hamilton House. There is great food, cafés, and supermarkets nearby! We’re a 5-minute walk to the A, C, B, D 145th Express Stop and a 7-minute walk to the 1 Local train. It’s a 30 min walk to the Bronx for major shopping like Home Depot, Bed Bath and Beyond, etc. If you have a car, there is often available street parking on our block too.

About us:
We are three BIPOC tenants who work in creative and artistic fields based in New York. Our landlord has had the home since the 90s and is responsive with upkeep/renovations as the home may need. We’re all in our early to mid-20s and have our own schedules but enjoy spending time together here and there. We all have hybrid on-site/remote work schedules. There is a cat, named Sunday, but he tends to mind his own and not bother you. Two of us are allergic and somehow have been fine! It’s a family-owned brownstone and we really love the space.
