Hi! I am looking for a roommate for my 2 bedroom 1 bath spacious apartment from June 1 (flexible, can be as early as May 25th pro-rated) to August 31, 2024. This space would be perfect for someone just moving to New York, or someone here for a summer fellowship/internship (20 minute subway ride to midtown, and close to CUNY and Columbia University). You will be signing a sublease with me.

The Space:
You will have the choice of the larger room ($1212/ month) or the smaller room ($1050/month), and we will split utilities ($20 for internet + ~$50 for Con Ed per person per month). The rooms can come unfurnished or furnished. The apartment is currently furnished (The pictures are a year old- it is slightly more furnished now), but the smaller room does not currently have a bed. It most recently has been used as a study, but we've had roommates there with a queen and full size bed before. The smaller room also does have hardwood floors like the rest of the apartment, though it currently has a large rug in it.

Depending on the room you choose and your needs we can work out how best to arrange the furniture. I am totally open to being flexible to meet the needs of both of us. We will share the large and bright common space (living room, kitchen and bathroom). We do have coin-operated laundry machines in our building basement, though I find it more convenient to use the laundry mat a few blocks away.

This truly is a peaceful, spacious and light-filled oasis in the city!- it is on the top floor of a building with an elevator, right across from Saint Nicholas Park, and just 2 blocks away from the CB subway. I truly love living here and hope you will too. We are in a quiet convenient residential neighborhood: a 5 minute walk to CUNY, 5 minute walk to a couple of nice coffee shops, grocery store, laundry mat, and with the BC local train 2 blocks away, and the AD express train a 8 minute walk away. It's about a 20-30 minute commute to midtown Manhattan. A 25 minute walk to Columbia University campus. The residents in this neighborhood, including in our building is mostly families, some elders, and young professionals.

The Roommate:
My name is Kim (32 y. o., she/her, cishet) and the leaseholder of this space. I am a social science researcher as a profession and have worked in international development for 10 years. Professionally, I am passionate about data science for humanitarian goals, agriculture and sustainable development. Outside of work, I love dancing, travel, music, art, cooking, reading, plants and gardens, and in general spending time with friends.

I am definitely someone who is NOT at home all the time, and hope you have a similar lifestyle. I am expecting to start a hybrid work schedule (2-3 days in office) the beginning of June, though do currently work from home. I am also usually out of the house Monday to Thursday nights 6-10pm at dance rehearsals. My weekends consist half of resting at home, and half out and about with friends around the city. I am an introvert- extrovert, a peaceful yet social and communicative person, but someone who needs my home to be calm and peaceful. I don't smoke- not cigarettes nor anything else, and hope you will be a nonsmoker as well.

I'd like to think that I'm a good roommate- and in general a responsible and self-aware adult. I'm easy-going, clean and helpful, a good communicator, social yet value everyone's space and privacy. My ideal roommate is someone with a similar understanding of being a roommate and taking care of our joint spaces. When we are both home, I certainly would love to catch up, hang out and learn about cool endeavors that everyone in the city is doing, but I also value both our privacy and the fact that our home is a space for us to recharge.

I prefer to keep the party outside of the apartment, though do enjoy having a couple of friends over from time to time. I'd like you do be comfortable doing the same, while giving each other advanced notice.

I do dog-sit on Rover occasionally, so my ideal roommate would be a dog lover as well. Unfortunately I cannot have anyone who have pets of their own.

Requirements:
- Proof of income, or proof of assets to cover rent for the duration of the lease
- Deposit of one month rent upon signing of sublease, and first month rent by move-in date.

Next Steps:
If interested, please contact me with some description that helps me get to know you a bit (For example, profession, hobbies, passions, personality, habits, etc.).  Feel free to include social media links such as your LinkedIn or Instagram!

Please also include: Why you are moving and interested in this space? Which room you'd be interested in, what's your ideal move-in date? and if you'd need it furnished/unfurnished?

I will be conducting virtual and in-person showings the first two weeks of May, aiming for a sublease signing as soon as possible.
