I have a room available at 231 Lexington Ave in Jersey City starting May 16.

Rent = 720
Internet = 40
Utilities = 60
Total = 820 per month

To move in: 820 (first month rent) + 1100 security deposit

The terms would be a verbal month-to-month sublet agreement unless you expressly wish to sign off on terms or just be added to the lease like I am. Just let me know what you're comfy with!

The room is about 10'x13' I believe.

Here's the good stuff:

- Less than 10 minute walk to Light Rail which you can take to get to the PATH train. Overall trip into NY takes about an hour from this apartment to WTC Cortlandt.

- Really nice park nearby as well as some really nice locally owned food options. Also a McDonald's if you're into McDonald's.

- Pretty spacious apartment space for a really affordable price.

- I HAVE A CAT. You must not be allergic to cats and preferably enjoy a cat being around.

Here's the bad stuff:

- the place is a little bit old, so there are some signs of wear/age

- no laundry in unit or building. There is a laundromat pretty much right on our street, but I prefer to use the one that's a bit more of a walk away.

- we are on the third floor with no elevator

- can get a little noisy outside sometimes with weird people but that's city life for ya. one of the downstairs neighbors is a DJ so occasionally from like 9pm to 11pm on a weekend day there's music bumping through the floor

- the front door locks, of course, but the actual doors to our private rooms only lock from the inside, like you can't use a key to lock your actual room (not that I would ever go in somebody's room without permission, but I think it's good for you to know about the doors). I usually keep my door cracked open because of the cat.

About me:

I am a work-from-home digital artist, and a lot of my hobbies and life is online. So I'm home with the cat most of the time. I'm very friendly, but I honestly keep to myself a lot. Always here if you need something but I'm admittedly not the best at small talk, so if you're looking for a roommate you can go out with a lot and be best friends with, I can't proooomise that much, but we can be regular friends always :D . I take a lot of work meetings or just hangouts with friends online, so you might hear me talking. If not to them, you might hear me talking to my cat, Itsy Bitsy. I love art, music, some video games, film. And I can give you a tarot card reading!

As far as living here goes, I like to keep things fairly clean, but I'm not a stickler about it as long as it isn't excessive. For example, if you leave a lot of dishes in the sink for 2-3 days, that's fine. But more than that is getting to be too much. On the other hand, if you prefer not to leave dishes in the sink for even a single day, I'm happy to meet you where your preferences are. I function best when both people feel an obligation towards each other to do their parts equally, but I'm willing to bend a little. Overall, I like to really respect each others' spaces, keep our belongings separate and sectioned off unless sharing is discussed, and not overstep any boundaries. Basic hygeine and respect of each other and of the space is a must but I'm not asking for things to be sparkly clean (I have a cat after all).

Just so you know, I accept rent through Venmo or cash, and then I run to the bank and get cash because the landlord only accepts cash. Whatever works for you is fine by me.
