Come live with us in our beautiful historic home, set up with the latest in tech, a short walk from downtown Hallowell. You’d be sharing with up to four other full-time residents plus owners (present some of the time). We love living with roommates here! Make friends while you make dinner and relax peacefully after a full day at work.

__The neighborhood__
The Cute Cape is in central Hallowell - 5 short blocks walk to Water St shops/restaurants; easy access to highway and Augusta. Hallowell is a center for live music and good food. Within walking distance are places for coffee, smoothies, restaurants, renowned pubs and bars, a bakery, banks, a post office, and several music venues. Walk or run the Kennebec Rail Trail to Gardiner or Augusta, or wander in Vaughan Woods. A short drive away are all the big-box stores, services and government offices of Augusta.

__The bedroom__
Upstairs. 'The Gable room'. Approx. 12'x 12'. 1 narrow closet. Painted plank floor. Overlooks Warren st and front lawn. $720

__The furniture__
The bedroom is furnished with a bed, mattress, antique dresser, chair, bedside table, lamp, clean bedding. Living room equipped with comfy sofa, armchair and coffee table, local original and reproduction art.

__Who we are, what we do__
Currently living here full time are Darlene, Abe, Emmeline and Nadia, and occasionally also Mark and Grace the owners. Abe works for a utility company. Darlene works at the VA Togus, Emmeline works in retail, and Nadia is a student, a landscape gardener and volunteer firefighter, who regularly goes for a run. Mark is a classical realist painter/sculptor who likes going to the gym and he also expresses his artistry through restoring old houses and bringing out their beauty. Grace works in operations management and enjoys the company of family and friends on a walk. Mark and Grace spend varying amounts of time in Hallowell and love it when they do.

We like to stay reasonably tidy, especially in common areas, but we are not obsessive about it.

__Pets__
We would enjoy the presence of a cat here. Please don’t apply if you are deathly allergic or this would make you unhappy. Up to one cat OK with additional cat deposit $250, no dogs, ask about other pets

__Costs___
Services Included: Internet, Regular garbage pickup, Snow Clearance, Mowing
Costs Shared between residents: Electricity, Gas, Water, Sewer, Cleaning once a month
If you want to use your own window air conditioner for your room (not provided), there is a $50 fee for reasonable use for the summer season

__Lease__
Lease term: We are looking for people with the intention of staying at least six months, then month-to-month. One roommate per room avoids overload in common areas.
Deposit: $1200 security deposit plus pro-rated first month’s rent (first month prorated according to date).

__House rules__
NO SMOKING anything, and NO DRUGS, anywhere on the premises (house and land) please - no exceptions. No subletting. Every roommate must get renters' insurance. We allow occasional short-term guests only.

__What’s next?__
If you like what you see, write to us by email and tell us a bit about yourself. We will chat a bit and then give you a chance to meet us and our roommates and to see the place (in person or remotely if you are relocating from far away).
