AVAILABLE FOR SEPTEMBER 1st:
1 room in a 2BR apartment in South Portland (corner of Ocean St. and Highland Ave.).

(Note from Shelby, the person posting this: I’m the roommate moving out whom you’d be replacing (I’m moving away for school). I’ve lived with Rob for over 4 years and he has been a great roommate. I’m happy to answer questions, and can get you in touch with him directly as well!!)

From Rob:
37 year old male looking for roommate (to replace roommate who is moving away) on the rest of my lease (through end of April 2027). I work full-time and periodically work from home. I'm hoping to adopt a cat later this year (no pets currently). Current cat owners are welcome. Ideal roommate for me is someone between the ages of 30 and 45, and I am LGBTQ+ friendly. Depending on how we get along, I'd be open to either renewing the lease at the end of the agreement or rooming together at a different location in the Greater Portland area. Rent: $1025 ($2050 total, split 2 ways). The apartment is on the second floor of a walk up.

Lease: We signed a 12 month lease in May; because Shelby is moving out early, you would be taking their place on that lease which ends (or renews) in May 2027. In the landlord’s words: “We would do a lease addendum, adding the new person to the original lease”.

The landlord will require the new person to send in an application via their website and also send their three most recent pay stubs/proof of income. So far, the management company has been good to work with - responsive and mostly flexible.

Heat: there is one gas heater for the apartment (unfortunately I don’t know what the heating costs will be since we have not yet lived here in winter).

Parking: The unit has only one assigned parking spot, in a lot behind the building. Rob has an electric car which needs to be charged regularly, so we have worked out a schedule to rotate use of the parking spot, with the other person parking on the street. **South Portland does NOT allow street parking during the wintertime; there are winter parking lots in walking distance, but since we just moved here in May, we have not navigated that yet.**

The building is pet friendly. The kitchen has a full sized dishwasher and a gas stove/oven.

The neighborhood is super convenient, very close/walking distance to Mill Creek Plaza and Mill Creek Park!
