Rent: Starts at $1500 monthly in private 730 square-foot basement unit. Utilities will be capped at $75/month (house has solar, gas heat, water, wi-fi). A pet, driveway parking, or EV charging will cost extra or require a deposit. One pet is acceptable (two cats live upstairs). No couples, no indoor smoking.

The apartment includes:
- New kitchenette, washer/dryer, full shower bathroom, large living/sleeping area, and bonus room.
- Double bed includes boxspring, IKEA memory foam mattress and undered storage.
- Bonus (green) room will be empty. Great for office, 2nd bedroom, or workout room.
- Walls and floors are mostly concrete that is waterproofed and painted.
- There is some drywall, and area rugs/tiles are available to scatter/launder.
- A French drain is on two walls, and a corner sump pump (only activated in major storms).

In new kitchenette:
Galanz retro-style refrigerator and freezer, Galanz matching microwave, toaster oven, induction cooktop, Midea dehumidifier (pipes into sink drain). There is a Koehler faucet, granite and butcher block counters and Amana front-loading washer and dryer. PLEASE NOTE: kitchenette does not have a full-size oven, a dishwasher, or range.

Private, back-of-house entrance, down five stairs, with a keyless code entry or metal keys. Apartment is also accessible or exit-able through the garage (w/ one step up to basement living area)

fire/radon detectors, 1 Vornado heating fan, 1 portable cooling unit, 1 additional bucket dehydrator and 1 Airgle HEPA air filter. No mold, lead, or elevated radon has been detected in the basement and asbestos tiles were professionally removed in 2020. House has central air and heat (not controllable from the basement unit), and vents were recently cleaned. City does weekly trash, recycling, food waste, and yard waste pickups.

Yard includes:
slack line, swing, seating, composting, native plants, corner rain garden, rainwater collection, tree chunk climbing course, and kid-created art.

Transit and neighborhood:
The house is 2 blocks from major arteries Carroll Avenue and EastWest Highway (3 blocks to New Hampshire Ave); all three have multiple bus lines. The house is a 20 minute walk from the Takoma red line metro. The neighborhood is purely residential and quite safe, with yards and kids and friendly dog-walking neighbors.
