Large lower-level room in a quiet house in Battery Park, a leafy street of family homes about five minutes' walk from downtown Bethesda.

Five minutes to Woodmont Triangle on foot; ten to fifteen to both Bethesda Metro on the Red Line and Bethesda Row. NIH is a seven-minute bike ride along the Bethesda Trolley Trail, or a fifteen-minute bus from the top of the road. It's all flat.

The lower level is open-plan with separate sleeping and living areas, and has its own private entrance, a private shower room and a kitchen area. Laundry is in a shared utility area down there, reachable without either of us going through the other's space. The back garden is shared and you're very welcome in it - mature and tree-lined, with an old fig tree. A good spot to sit out in summer.

$1,800/month and everything is included: heat, electric, water, gigabit internet, and an off-street parking permit. No separate bills, no surprises at the end of the month.

The room comes unfurnished. There's a double daybed with storage drawers in there at the moment which you're welcome to keep if it's useful, or I'll take it out.

I live upstairs, and my two sons are here about half the time. You'd have your own entrance and your own space, so in practice we'd cross paths rarely, but I'm looking for someone considerate and easy-going. Professionals, postdocs, fellows, visiting researchers and hospital staff all very welcome.
