Sunny furnished room in quiet Mill Valley home
The room:
Approximately 150 sq ft, bright, with wood floors and a mirrored closet. Southeast-facing with views toward the Bay and the headlands. The sunset photo was taken from the room. Comes furnished (queen bed, desk, chair, rug, side table, bookshelf, lamps), or we can remove the furniture if you'd prefer to bring your own.
The house:
Nestled on a hillside at the literal end of the road at the top of Tennessee Valley. Every window looks onto open space, and the trails start right at the door. Four bedrooms, an office in daily use, and 3.5 bathrooms. Well-equipped kitchen, broadband internet (40/90 Mbps), washer/dryer, street parking, EV charging (for occasional use), sunny work nooks throughout, and a deck for morning coffee or weekend reading. Your bathroom is across the hall and has a tub. Day-to-day it's mostly yours; occasional house guests use it. Nahla, an orange cat, runs the place.
The household:
Three of us live here: Samantha, Gregory, and Damian, early and mid-career professionals working across technology, regenerative finance, education, and culture. Gregory's 14-year-old son stays with us some weekends. The house tends to be quiet and focused. We're community-focused, health-conscious, and outdoor-oriented, and we overlap enough that it feels like a real shared home rather than a transactional rental.
A note on working from home:
Two of us already work from home full-time and a third does sometimes. Some remote work in the room is fine, but when four people are on video calls simultaneously the household gets unsettling. If you're a full-time remote worker with a heavy call schedule, this won't be a good fit. The issue is household density, not bandwidth. (If this is a problem, but you otherwise feel this could be a fit, let's talk.)
What works here; we enjoy living with people who:
- Spend real time outdoors and value living next to open space
- Keep shared areas clean without being asked
- Communicate directly when something isn't working
- Have a settled life outside the house (work, relationships, routines) rather than treating the home as their primary social environment
To apply:
Message us with a brief introduction: who you are, what you do, why this setup appeals to you, and roughly how long you're thinking of staying. We'd prefer a longer-term housemate but are open to shorter stays meeting the 3-month minimum.
