Looking for Female Roommate to Join UWS 3Bed/1Bath
Three-bedroom apartment with ample living area/kitchen, plus one small spare room that we share as a WFH office/craft room. We are on the fourth floor of a walkup building; no doorman but there is a large area in the lobby for packages with a security camera. We don't have laundry in the building, but there is a laundromat on the next block. Building neighbors are friendly and of varying ages. The living room and kitchen both have windows that face the adjacent buildings/backyards below - great morning and daytime light, but not so much that it warms the space in summer. There is one bathroom, which we share pretty seamlessly without scheduling conflicts as our schedules have been staggered. Our kitchen is well-equipped with a dishwasher, full-sized appliances, an island for food prep and solo dining, and a decent amount of storage. We have systems for splitting fridge space, dividing chores so all spaces are regularly cleaned, and taking turns with the trash/recycling. We keep the shared spaces very clean/tidy and expect the same.
YOUR ROOM: Your bedroom is right off the living room, street-facing, unfurnished. You have a great closet, as well as substantial loft storage above. The layout can fit up to a Queen-sized bed, dresser, and a small desk if needed. We’ve included a floor plan with measurements and example furniture layout for reference. It gets wonderful southeastern light most of the day - great for plants if you’re into that! Your window looks out on Columbus Avenue, with cute brick buildings across the street and fun people-watching.
YOUR ROOMMATES: There are 3 total occupants (including you!). So far it has been like-minded female professionals, aged late-20’s to mid-30’s; keeping it all women is strongly preferred.
Jessie, 36, interior designer. I work from home Mondays and Fridays, and go into the office Tues-Thurs. I have lived in NYC for 10 years (going on year eight in this apartment!), originally from the Southwest. I am a Christian and involved in my church community, am social justice-minded, LGBTQ+ supportive and politically progressive. I would love to live with others who share my values.
At home I want to decompress - I’m usually doing something crafty/creative, watching reruns of my comfort shows or dreaming up the next home improvement project. I enjoy cooking when schedule/energy permits, generally nothing super elaborate. I rarely have people over, but do love to host now and then, including an annual Christmas party.
As for roommate living, I love to get along/be friends, but need my quiet/alone time and in turn totally respect your need for yours. I am clean and tidy, especially in shared spaces. I love to come back to a clean, peaceful home and expect that everyone does their part to make the upkeep easy for one another. I have put a lot of love into the apartment but am always thinking of a new project!
Camryn, 27, kindergarten teacher & afterschool nanny. I grew up just outside NYC and have lived in the city since college (4th year in this lovely apt!). I spend many of my weekends with my family in CT and most of my weekdays working. I love being outside, baking treats (which you can occasionally benefit from), reading, and being crafty. I equally value keeping a calm, quiet space that can be a peaceful retreat after long days. I usually host friends a few times a year with plenty of advance notice. Also politically progressive and socially conscious.
NEIGHBORHOOD: We are in the Manhattan Valley area of the UWS, just two blocks from Central Park. Mostly residential, though there are a lot of smaller businesses/restaurants along Columbus near us. We are a 10-minute walk from Whole Foods, HomeGoods, TJ Maxx, Sephora, mini Target, etc. A NYPL branch, Columbia, and Trader Joe’s are also nearby. Various transit options close to us are:
- C/B trains, a 5 min walk.
- 1 train, about 8 min walk.
- M7, M11 and M16 buses within a block; M10 about 4 min walk.
- Citi Bike - multiple stations within 5 min walking in any direction.
LOGISTICS: Lease begins September 1st, 2026; move-in date possibly a few days earlier, if needed, but we have to coordinate this with the outgoing roommate.
COSTS: Monthly rent for your room is $1,565, plus utilities (electricity, Wi-Fi, TV/streaming, etc.) which run about $60-95/month (higher in the summer with ACs running). As for upfront costs, there is a security deposit of $1,498 and a one-time, non-refundable $25 application fee per our building management company, which will entail a background/credit check.
If all of this sounds good, please reach out with some info about you and why you'd be a good fit! We’ve put together a questionnaire that we will send (and we’ll fill out, too) to help guide the process and make sure we cover all the important things when we chat!
