My roommate and I are looking to fill the third room in our wonderful three bedroom apartment. Our fourth-floor apartment is in an elevator building with a laundry room in the basement and a live-in super.
The open room has one large and sunny, south-facing window that looks over the courtyard. The room currently fits a full bed, large desk and chair, and dresser, with ample floor and closet space, but the room could easily fit a queen bed or larger.
Our apartment has an eat-in kitchen, complete with a dishwasher, a full sized fridge, two microwaves, a coffee maker, and a toaster. You're welcome to bring any additional appliances that you would like. It also has a large bathroom, with plenty of storage space -- for reference, we sometimes joke that we can fit a bed on the floor of our bathroom for guests. We also have a spacious living room, furnished with a dining table, couch, coffee table, and an electric piano, as well as a hallway closet for additional storage. One of the rooms has an accessible fire escape.
I am an opera singer, researcher for a library, teacher, and Masters student. During the quarantine, I'm home all the time, but usually I'm out of the house for most of the day. I occasionally sing in the apartment, but only after asking permission from my housemates. In my spare time, I love to read, paint, write, listen to jazz and watch stand up comedy, and drink a glass of wine with friends. My roommate is a PhD student at Columbia University, and she has a chinchilla that she keeps in her room. In her spare time, she likes to visit museums, go for long walks, watch TV, and learn Japanese.
We are looking for a kind, LGBT-friendly, preferably graduate student or working professional, roommate. While we want someone who we can spend time with, we're looking for someone who also understands when we might have a need for quiet working time. Both of us love to cook frequently, and you're more than welcome to do the same -- my roommate, however has a serious airborne allergy to dairy, so we'd need someone who doesn't cook with milk or cheese products. Our outgoing roommate had a fish, so you're welcome to have one yourself, but cats and dogs are a no-go because of allergies, much as we'd wish otherwise. We're open to house guests and dinner parties, just run it by us first!
