Clean, safe, room in a secure building.

We have a room for rent for one person without pets. The room is partially furnished. It will fit a single or double bed. We will buy the mattress. There are two windows, desk, small bed table, large mirror, air conditioner. All utilities are included. We prefer a long term renter.
It is a walk-up (three flights) on the lower east side. No smoking or bicycles are allowed in the building as per the building owners. We follow those requests. Appointments are necessary to view the room. It is available now.

We are looking for a person who respects others and the planet. We keep as small a footprint as possible in New York City. We lead contemplative lives of kindness, study and compassion without being smug or silly about it.

This is again, for one person, non smoker, without pets. We have a resident cat.

We have a room for rent in our apartment. That said there are lots of caveats to attend to. As I read through responses, I get a picture of what prospective roommates want for their ideal situation.
What we have is one very nice partially furnished room with two windows facing north a small closet, a table chair, mattress. All utilities included. It is a walk-up of three flights. We have a security system in the building. There are only three apartments the building owners live in the other two. The bathroom and kitchen are shared. Everything is legal and above board. We are older. Please consider before you respond to the ad that we have one cat, the room is for one person, this is a group living situation. But we go our separate ways. We keep a small footprint in the city, we don?t smoke, there is no smoking of anything in the building. This is not party central. It is an opportunity for someone to have a decent working - class place to live. This is becoming exceedingly rare in any city.
The rent is 1,150.00 a month. We give a roommate renters agreement. Prospective roommates are given a guide on how to live in the building. To be honest, respect for self and others is the basic point. We have been having roommates for over 20 years and have experienced different personalities. Honestly, most are decent experiences and then there are the klunkers. I think there was only one time we did not give a security deposit back.
We are very concerned with the state of the planet and are not wasteful, overly want-ful (greedy) etc. I am on Social Media in a very measured way because SM needs to be monitored for stupidity and unreality.
That said, if anyone adheres to the labels of millennial, boomer, x?er or other generational, gender, political hatred then please do not apply. Dividing people against others who are safe is never a good thing. We ask that our home is free from those toxic personalities, and manipulative people who may come to New York. We ask that New York City apartment dweller voyeurs do that somewhere else to get their feelies.
All visits are by appointment only. We will not supply a video of the inside of the building or apartment. It is enough that everyone can look up from the street views. Privacy is important because we all deserve some aspect of that in our personal lives. There are basic pictures included.
