ISO Cooperatively Minded Roommate for Queer APT
One room available in a large 19th-century apartment with high ceilings (13ft) and in an amazing location in Central Harlem, blocks from 125th and Lenox.
Available Room: The size of the room is 14ft x 12ft. The room has 1 decent-sized closet, hardwood floors, and a shared 1/2 bath that is connected to the bedroom. This room gets very little natural sunlight, but we do get nice light in our dining room. Pics of this room show a large bookcase and a white printer on a white table.
The apartment includes:
- Kitchen (14’x14’) with a washer, dryer, dishwasher, fridge, gas stove, lil fire escape
- Dining room (14’x14’) with a 2nd fridge, non-functioning fireplace
- Bathrooms: 1 and 1/2 bath
- Two Spare rooms: a bike/storage room & a small guest room
- Pet: 1 old cat, Hobbes (litterbox is in my bedroom)! Very well-behaved
- Accessibility: One-floor walk-up. No elevator
The location is great! There are multiple grocery stores within two blocks of us (including TJ's, Whole Foods, Fine Fare, etc.). We also live 1 block from Marcus Garvey Park and are within walking distance of Central Park. The apt is easily accessible by multiple express trains 2 blocks from the 2/3, and less than 10 min from the 4/5/6, A/B/C/D & MetroNorth. Over half a dozen bus lines stop within 2 blocks, including the M60 to LaGuardia Airport.

Renting Requirements:
Apt Vibe: Our priority is a living space that is comfortable for everyone living there. So the apt vibe is communal, caring, clean, self-aware, thoughtful, and communicative. Also, no smoking.
Rent: $1,250, which includes a monthly cleaning service. Utilities not included.
Utilities: avg: $100-125/month (includes wireless internet, gas & electric, joint household stuff e. g., tissues, cleaning products etc.)
Lease length: August 16, 2026, to December 31, 2026, with an option to renew for a longer term if the fit is good. Ideally, we’re looking for a long-term roommate.
The new roommate will need to provide 1 month's rent, a security deposit equal to 1 month's rent, proof of income, a soft credit check, and a reference at lease signing (I'll give you receipts, a copy of the lease, etc.).
About You:
There are currently three of us: a queer couple (femme/NB), queer roommate, and 1 old cat.
Two of us are in our mid-30s, and one of us is in our late 20s. All three of us are working professionals in the education or mental health field and are passionate about our work. One of us works from home and the other two work in-person.
The two of us in a relationship have happily lived together for 3+ years and are thoughtful about our presence in the communal space as a couple. All three of us strongly value a positive & comfortable home space and hope to find people to live happily and comfortably with us. We are kind, thoughtful, communicative, and responsible.
