Seeking Two Cooperatively Minded Roommates for Que
Queer couple (femme/NB) and 1 cat looking for two kind, clean, self-aware, community-oriented roommates for our queer, BIPOC-centered home. We are both in our mid-30s, have lived together for 3+ years, and are thoughtful about our presence in the communal space as a couple. We strongly value a positive & comfortable home space and hope to find people to live happily and comfortably with us.
It's a very large apartment - we have the whole second floor to ourselves. The location is great, as there are multiple grocery stores within two blocks of us (including TJ's, Whole Foods, Fine Fare, etc.). We also live 1 block from Marcus Garvey Park and are within walking distance of Central Park.
Public Transport: 2 blocks from the 2/3, and less than 10 min from the 4/5/6, A/B/C/D & MetroNorth. Over half a dozen bus lines stop within 2 blocks, including the M60 to LaGuardia airport.
Our process: our priority is to find people who are a good match for our home. We will interview people via Zoom, set up in-person visits, and then offer the rooms to whoever seems like the best fit.

Rent: $1250 (same for both rooms & includes once monthly apartment cleaning). Utilities not included.
Utilities: avg: $100-125/month (includes wireless internet, gas & electric, household stuff)
Rooms Available:
Room 1: 11ft x 11ft, a lot of natural sunlight, no closet, hardwood floors (the pics include two different room set ups but they’re the same room)
Room 2: 14ft x 12ft, 1 decent-sized closet, hardwood floors, shared 1/2 bath is connected to the bedroom, very little natural sunlight, but we do get nice light in our dining room.
Move-in Date: Available on August 15, 2026 - but August 1st is possible too
Lease length: August 15, 2026, to December 31, 2026, with an option to renew for a longer term if the fit is good. Ideally, we’re looking for a long-term roommate.
Kitchen (14’x14’): WASHER & DRYER, Dishwasher, fridge, gas stove, lil fire escape
Dining room (14’x14’): 2nd fridge, non-functioning fireplace
Bathrooms: 1 and 1/2 bath
Two Spare rooms: bike/storage room & laundry room
19th-century apt: high ceilings (13ft), nice wood floors
Pet: 1 cat, Hobbes (litterbox is in my bedroom)! Very well behaved
Accessibility: a flight walk-up. No elevator
If we do choose to move forward, the new roommate will need to provide 1 month's rent, a security deposit (1 month's rent), proof of income, a credit check, and a reference upon lease signing (I'll give you receipts, a copy of the lease, etc)
