Laundry in the building.
There are three supermarkets within a 3-block radius. and plenty of cafés and restaurants. There are two big parks nearby if you need a green fix.
Move - in date:
You'd be subletting/subleasing from April 1st to June 30th, when the contract is over—preferably, looking for someone who will join the new lease with the other roommates.
I've lived here for almost three years, and it's been lovely, but now I'm moving in with my partner.
Roommates:
You'd be living with two roommates: Katy (37, she/her) & Ben (28, him/his). They're both employed full-time and are super communicative and friendly. Katy works for a non-profit, and Ben is a public defender. We've had a good dynamic!
We all clean up after ourselves, do our dishes immediately (there's a dishwasher), and keep the common spaces tidy. We've had a cleaning schedule for the shared spaces, and a cleaning person has come in even when we've been all crazy busy.
Katy: I moved here from Chicago to get my master's in Conflict Resolution at Columbia. I am an abolitionist, smoke-friendly, love a good conversation (we've had great convos!), and cooking. I am social and friendly, but also need time to recharge - will respect your space and expect the same! As I mentioned, conflict resolution is my field of study, so I view disagreement as an opportunity for better understanding, but I know direct discussions like this can be uncomfortable, so if that's the case for you, let us know!
Ben: I am from Mississippi, studied law at Columbia, and work as a public defender in The Bronx. I spend my time between work (sometimes from home), the gym, time out with friends, and cooking. I am sober and tend more to the introverted side, but I'm down to watching a show together and sharing a meal.
You:
Looking for someone with a stable income or full-time employed, considerate, and who values the same feeling of calm and cleanliness.
Important:
Each roommate has a cat, and they're very responsible with them - so you must be ok with two cats. No new pets.
One of the cats is shy and chill, and spends most of the time in the room. The other is playful and funny.
Katy and Ben don't expect you to care for them or let them into your room, but they do expect access to the common areas. When either Katy or Ben is out of town, one of them takes care of the kitties, or a friend/Rover stops by to feed them.
