Bedroom

One furnished room available in a three-bedroom apartment. My roommate lives in one of the rooms. I am spending time taking care of my elderly parents in Westchester so I only stay in the apartment about three times a month and would let you know in advance when that would be. There are four rooms in all, plus the kitchen and bathroom, Of the four rooms, the two smallest are my bedroom and office. Yours would be the largest bedroom and the other roommate has the living room as a bedroom. The large bedroom has a full-sized bed on a platform (lots of storage underneath), a tall dresser, a bedside table, a work table, a closet, a bookcase, a platform couch, and two chairs. The apartment layout is a long hallway with the living room at the far end and the rest of the rooms off the hallway, with the large bedroom being near the entrance of the apartment and the living room being at the opposite end. Since the rooms are far apart, there is a lot of privacy for the two people primarily living there. It is on the third floor of a six-floor apartment building with an elevator. There are about ten apartments on each floor, with diverse and friendly neighbors. It has a small eat-in kitchen with a table and chairs. I am a dancer-choreographer-teacher. There are also dishes, utensils, and cookware in the kitchen that you can use. The building is not swanky, but the custodian cleans the lobby and hallways every morning. The elevator sometimes goes out of service so although there is an accessible ramp available to enter the building, I would not recommend this apartment for a person who cannot walk up stairs if need be. The living room and bedroom both get a lot of light in the afternoons, with a southern exposure. A pet cat would be welcome. Dogs are not allowed. Something unique about this place is that our neighbors across the courtyard are Juilliard-trained jazz musicians. When they practice (usually late afternoon, never at night,) we get treated to a free concert right in our home! This is a wonderful place for artistic/creative people to live. It is a friendly and mostly very quiet block, with an occasional weekend party. It is also great for a child! We raised our son here from birth. He is now 13. Regarding duration, I would like a mininimum commitment of 10 to 12 months, and I can commit to at least two years of availability for you. We have really fast internet through Spectrum, and a mesh router to extend it to the livingroom. Internet will be included in the rent. Con Edison for electric and gas is the only additional expense which is $100 to $200 per month depending on your usage. We have a new gas range/oven, air conditioners in both rooms and a fan in the kitchen. In the picture, the desk and desk chair in the bedroom are not available and the artwork also will not be there. The bedroom bookshelf will be empty. As for my roommate who lives in the living room, he is a very responsible and thoughtful person who works in bio-medicine. We are seeking a person who will help take care of the home, wash his or her own dishes (as there is no dishwasher,) and take turns with cleaning duties including the bathroom, kitchen, hallway, and taking out trash and recycling. Also seeking a person who is ok with roommate hosting a few friends once a month or so. Please do not hesitate to respond with questions!
