I first lived in 517 W 29th in 2023, before the management company moved me out as they were selling the units as condos. I loved the building so much that I came back in 2025 once the unit had been sold, so I could rent from one of the new private landlords instead. To note, the landlords are a young couple from SF and they are really wonderful, truly. They could not be more helpful and pleasant to deal with.
The building was initially built to be sold as condos, so the finishings are all really high quality (marble everywhere and well designed Miele appliances). There are only about 60 units in the whole building, so it's quiet and personal. There is a roof terrace, a private terrace on the ground floor, a gym and someone on front desk 24hrs a day. It's a clean and quiet area, right next to the top of the Highline, just south of Hudson Yards so you feel part of the Chelsea scene, but will all of the conveniences of Hudson Yards so close.
The apartment has double height ceilings and large windows, so is very light, even in this dark and cold winter we find ourselves in! There is plenty of storage around the kitchen area, above the washer dryer, in the bathroom (including storage behind the mirror), a coat closet and a large walk in wardrobe with automatic light too. I have had no problem with storing all my things.
Sadly, I have to return to the UK for a new work visa, which could be for either 6 months or 14, depending on my success (H1B first then L1 if required), so reluctantly I am having to list the apartment. It's a great home, I love it, and there is everything you could need close by. I've found it convenient to get to most places in NYC given it's 29th street location. I'd be happy to leave my furniture, all of which is well made, or put it in storage, depending on what the new tenant would like.
This could be a sublease or a lease break, as the landlords are fully aware, understanding and supportive. My lease contract is for $5950, so I am asking for the same. I will not (and can not) be profiting from this. I will be relocating back to London for April 1st 2026.
