One private bedroom is available in a bright, top‑floor 2BR apartment in Somerville, with an extra room that works great as a home office or creative studio. The apartment is on the 2nd and 3rd floors of a two‑family house, with great natural light and lots of cozy, decor‑heavy charm.

You’ll have:

Private bedroom (~13 x 10.5 ft) with closet

Shared living room and separate dining room

Large kitchen with dishwasher

Dedicated in‑unit laundry room (we own the machines)

Street permit parking

The building is owner‑occupied: a friendly older couple lives downstairs, they’re quiet, responsive about repairs, and haven’t raised the rent in years. It’s a stable, low‑drama house.

Rent & bills

Rent: $1,400 per month

Lease: 12 months, starting Sept 1

Move‑in: first month’s rent + security deposit + application fee

Included: water and trash

Split: gas, electric, internet

We also split one monthly house cleaning

About me
I’m in my late 30s, work in UX, and do a mix of WFH and going into the office. I’m an introvert with social energy: I like a good chat, shared meal, or movie night, but also really value downtime and personal space. I’m a big geek (sci‑fi/fantasy, Star Wars/Star Trek, Marvel, Ghibli), into LARP, community theatre, and photography. The apartment is colorful, cozy, and full of books, art, and nerdy decor.

I’m queer and poly; my partners visit about 1–2 times a month and I always give a heads‑up. I spend around half my time at a partner’s place, so you’ll have the apartment to yourself quite a bit. I keep things reasonably clean and organized, but it’s a lived‑in home, not a showroom.
