Room available 9/1 in Union Square, Somerville – $1,450

Hi! I’m looking for a roommate for a 3 bed, 1 bath apartment on Everett St in Union Square, available September 1.

There are technically two open bedrooms, but my preference is to add one roommate and keep the apartment as a two-person household. The larger available bedroom is spacious, unfurnished, has a closet and window, and is $1,450/month.

I’m also open to a couple sharing the larger room for $800/person, or potentially filling both available bedrooms. If both rooms are filled, the larger room would be $1,000/month and the smaller room would be $900/month.

The apartment is a third-floor walk-up with in-unit laundry, gas heat and cooking, plenty of kitchen cabinet/fridge/freezer space, and a medium-sized partially furnished living room. Hot water is included. There’s no dishwasher, garbage disposal, outdoor space, or extra storage. Street parking is available with a Somerville resident permit.

The location is probably the best part. It’s about a 5-minute walk to the Union Square Green Line and right near all the restaurants, bars, coffee shops, stores, and other things around Union Square. Market Basket is also nearby, and it’s very easy to get into Cambridge or Boston by transit, bike, or walking.

A little about me: I’m 31 and work from home during the day. I actually have two work-from-home jobs, and I also sing in a gig/wedding band on weekends. I’m pretty easygoing, clean, and respectful and generally keep to myself, but I’m happy to be as social with a roommate as they want to be. I’m a night owl, but I’m mindful of noise and other people’s schedules.

The household is generally pretty chill. I’m not looking for a complicated chore system or to micromanage anyone. My main expectation is just that common areas get cleaned up after use, everyone handles their own mess, and we communicate if something comes up. Friends and partners are totally fine, and occasional guests aren’t an issue. I’d just appreciate a heads-up if you’re planning to have more than a couple of people over, and respect for sleeping/work hours during the week.

LGBTQ+ friendly and friendly. Cigarettes need to be smoked outside. No additional pets.

I’m mostly looking for a respectful, clean, communicative housemate. We don’t need to become best friends, but I’m totally open to hanging out if we get along. The biggest thing for me is living with someone who cleans up after themselves and is comfortable communicating rather than letting little roommate issues build up.

The landlord is very responsive and I’ve had a good relationship with them. A landlord application will be required. First and last month’s rent are due at move-in. A one-year arrangement is preferred, but month-to-month can also be considered.

If you’re interested, send me a DM with a little about yourself, what you do for work or school, your typical schedule, and which room/setup you’re interested in. Happy to answer questions or set up a time for you to come see the place.
