Hi! We are two housemates in a wonderful housing coop looking for 3-4 new housemates to join us. Our co-op has been around for the past two years, but our housemates are moving away – so we’re putting together a new group for an August 1st lease.

We’ve put together some information below about who we are, what we’re hoping to create, and what we’re looking for.

The House
The house is a beautiful 3-story brick townhouse within a 5 min walk from Harvard.

We have a very large common space that functions as both a living room and a dining room and gets plenty of light, as well as a large fenced-in back patio. We also have a small plot in front, though we don’t use it much.

Our gorgeous kitchen has both a fridge and a mini-fridge for personal items, and we love to boast an incredible 6 burner stove.

Large basement with tons of storage and in-unit laundry.

The Rooms
We currently have three rooms available. Rooms B & C are great for couples! Summer options are also available.

Room A is available May
Room B is available June
Room C is available August

Please note: rents are based on our current lease rent, with an assumption of 1 person/room.

Room A is located on the second floor, and is 136 sqft. It is brightly lit with many south-facing windows, and comes with a private bathroom (located right next to it). The rent for Room A is $1590.

Room B is also on the second floor, and is 200 sqft. It has many north-facing windows, and comes with a private ensuite bathroom. There is also a small quarter-room next to Room B that functions as an open-office. The rent for Room B is $2100.

Room C is the largest room in the house. It is located on the third floor and is 226 sqft, with many north facing windows. The rent for Room C is $1750.

House Culture
We are hoping to create a house that feels like a community. That means we are focused on developing intentional relationships with each other (more like friends than just “good housemates”) through mutual care and responsibility. In addition to things like house bonding and building friendship, we express that through various house systems (see below).

We are also hoping that the house can function as a center of community not just for us, but for our networks. A house filled with friends and neighbors is our goal, whether that’s through hosting potlucks or inviting someone over for dinner. We love events, and have hosted game nights, friendsgivings, and halloween parties, but have also hosted candidate fundraisers and Sauce Sunday (dinners celebrating the power of loose connections). In the future we also want to host poetry nights and symposiums. We’d love for you to bring events you’re excited about as well!

House Systems
As a way to demonstrate our mutual care for each other, as well as to make sure our house runs effectively, we have a number of house systems in place.

We try to keep the house tidy and keep it a nice place to live in. We have split chores to help make this happen. (Please note, there is no smoking in the house.)

We also split groceries and house expenses. Each housemate also cooks for the house approximately once/week.

We have house meeting once every other week, and we operate on a consensus model. (If you don’t know what that is, don’t worry! We’ll explain in the interview.)

Housemates
J, she/her, is a 31 year old PhD student in public policy at Harvard. She is studying sex workers’ rights in Latin America, loves salsa & bachata dancing, and is active in local socialist politics.

A, he/they, is a 30 year old rabbinical student and former organizer, currently working on Jewish justice theology. A loves board games and throwing potlucks, and is constantly making puns. He also collects jokes, so please come prepared to add to his collection!

Who you are
You are someone who wants to live in community with others, looking to develop deeper connections with your housemates. You enjoy being social, however that may look for you (introverts and extroverts both welcome!). You are politically progressive (bonus points for being politically engaged), as well as sex- & poly-positive. You are considerate and tidy.

Pets welcome!

Application process & timeline
Congrats on reading all this way! That’s a good sign that you’re interested. Message for details on how to apply.

We are looking at an August 1st lease. We will try to get back to folks within a week or two of their application to schedule an interview, ideally in-person.

If you have any questions, comments, queries, or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us!
