Live-in home & dog carer wanted — Maitland

I travel for work and my house in Maitland sits empty most of the year. I'm looking for one reliable person to live in it, keep it in good shape, and — most importantly — love my two dachshunds like they're their own.

What you get

A private bedroom with your own bathroom down the hall, and effectively the run of the house: pool, screened porch, full kitchen, living space, driveway parking. Utilities, internet, lawn care and pool service all included. I'm here only a handful of days a year, 2–3 days at a time, and I'll always give you notice. The rest of the time the place is yours.

The dogs

Winston (8) and Pebbles (9) are miniature dachshunds, and they're the whole point of this arrangement.

Winston eats fabric and has needed surgery for it more than once, so he needs someone genuinely attentive — not someone out of the house twelve hours a day. Pebbles is loving and sweet, but she has canine compulsive disorder and can be destructive. She takes daily medication.

They don't need walks — supervised time in the fenced yard, plus company. This works best for someone who works from home or has a flexible schedule and can look in on them midday. That's closer to a requirement than a nice-to-have.

I'm being upfront about all of this because I want someone who reads it and still wants the job.

What I'm asking

Daily care, feeding, yard time, Pebbles' medication, and vet visits as needed — I cover all costs, with a card on file at their vet
Keep the house clean and tidy, handle small things like water softener salt and interior pest control, and let in and coordinate contractors when needed
Arrange and cover your own dog care if you travel; up to 7 nights away with advance approval
WhatsApp updates and photos — I like seeing them

Terms

$800/month, one month's security deposit, renters insurance required. One-year minimum, and I'd be glad for it to run longer. No smoking, vaping or drugs. Sorry, no additional pets. Guests welcome with notice.

Background check and references required, including a previous landlord and a vet or pet-care reference.

Start date is flexible — roughly 30 days from when we agree.
