Room near El Cerrito Plaza BART: Spacious, Artsy

The Room:

This listing is for one spacious private bedroom with its own private bathroom in a shared 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment. Rent is $1000 a month, plus utilities. The security deposit is $1000, and we have the option of a year-long lease or a month-to-month lease with the landlord. The apartment is just steps away from the El Cerrito Plaza BART, with a bus stop around the corner. Trader Joe’s and Lucky’s Grocery are about a five-minute walk away. We’re very close to Solano Ave, restaurants, and the Albany Bulb, as well. You can be in Berkeley or Oakland in 10–15 minutes on BART, and San Francisco in about half an hour.

The common areas include a little patio, a living room, a dining room, and a kitchen. There’s plenty of storage for pots, pans, dishes, and cups. The room is unfurnished, with floor-to-ceiling closets covering one wall. Street parking is abundant, and the neighborhood is quiet. Unfortunately, the landlord does not allow pets.

About Us:

We are two queer Cal alums in our thirties. Jonathan (he/him) is a social worker, and E. J. (they/them) is a paraprofessional and nonbinary. We are quiet, working professionals and maintain a non-smoking, sober, non-partying household.

We’re looking for a clean, respectful roommate with good communication skills who will be comfortable living in an LGBTQ household. Applicants of all gender identities and sexual orientations are welcome. Proof of ability to pay rent is required. We prefer someone who plans to stay for a full year, from August ’26 to August ’27.
