Looking for a roommate in North Park
Looking for a roommate for my 2bd/2bth 1,335 sq. ft. 2-floor townhouse condo in the middle of North Park. The home is one of only 4 home units in this “enclave,” each with its own house address. It has only one shared wall with the neighbor’s condo so it has the feel of a single family detached home. When you step out the front door, you’re within minutes walking to every type of restaurant, coffeehouses, and breweries.
The ground floor has one of the two primary bedrooms, which I’m renting, with an en-suite bathroom and a huge walk-in closet. It’s 12x12. There is a private walkout patio. Down the hall, there is some additional closet storage and direct access to a 2-car private garage. The garage features an upgraded epoxy floor and extra cabinet storage, as well as a washer and dryer.
The main living area on the 2nd floor has a grand living room, framed by a big fireplace. The floors are a warm hardwood. The ceiling heights in this open concept layout are exceptionally high and feature dimmable recessed lighting throughout. Directly past the living room you can step out through the glass sliders onto a big balcony with treetop eastern views of the city beyond. The kitchen has been upgraded with Italian tile flooring and features an abundance of cabinetry, a gas stove, granite counters, and a full suite of modern appliances, including stainless steel cookware, a Calphalon espresso maker, a DF54 coffee grinder, and an air fryer. The place also features a sky window in the kitchen, ceiling fans, central air and heat (used sporadically though due to exorbitant SDGE rates), and beautiful plantation shutters. The house may not be a House & Garden candidate as far as the interior décor, but I love coming home.
About me: I’m a single straight male in my 40s, and work as an attorney for a big defense law firm in UTC. I grew up in Poland and lived in NYC throughout my 20s. I work long hours Mon-Fri and often work Saturday and Sunday afternoons. I prefer to work in the office Mon-Thu and work only one day a week from home, usually Fridays. I am also an avid cyclist and cycle for about 5-6 hours on Saturday and Sunday mornings. I don’t smoke or do drugs; I drink beer, mostly IPA. I am very quiet and more of an introvert. I don’t have any visitors or throw parties. I don’t have cable or a TV; I watch YouTube on my laptop. I am a very private person and keep to myself, but that does not mean I’m standoffish. Silence is one of my favorite sounds, after John Coltrane’s tenor sax, Paul Desmond’s alto sax, and Chet Baker’s trumpet. I go to bed very early, usually around 8pm (including weekends), and get up at 4:30am every day, or even earlier on the weekends to ride my bike. I consider myself a very clean person and keep the house very clean. I don't leave dishes in the sink, especially overnight, clean the cookware right after I cook, and keep the kitchen counters clean at all times. I enjoy living in a clean, good smelling house, not a dorm. My house is my oasis from the crazy world to come to after work.
What I’m looking for: Ideally a professional in their 30s or 40s with a steady job and a career he or she likes, preferably working on-site (not from home full time) who is quiet, responsible, clean, and respectful. I don’t care about sexual preference, religious beliefs, political leanings, gender identity, or the pronouns used. But if you still wear a mask, we are likely not a good match. What I do care about, and is non-negotiable, is paying on time, keeping the house clean, being able to communicate (no passive-aggressive crap), and being respectful of the other person. I’m not looking for a drinking buddy, a f buddy, or any buddy; just a decent human being as a roommate. Please keep in mind that I'm renting to you only, not your your friends, partner, or date. I prefer not to be a witness to relationship drama, which inevitably ensues. I also don't want to run into a person I have never met going through my fridge in the morning. If you do check these boxes, you’re going to love it here. My current roommate has lived here for 3 years and we got along great.
The room is available September 8, 2026, but the move-in date can be pushed out a week or two, if necessary. Unfortunately, it cannot be moved up. The rent is $1,900, including unlimited internet and monthly cleaning lady. SDGE is an additional expense and separate. Unfortunately, due to the absurd utility rates, the SDGE bill may run around $100+ each, depending on the time of the year. So you’re looking at approx. $2,000 for everything, give or take $50. But you get your own place with full privacy with a garage in the middle of North Park.
