Room in Bright Highland Park Apartment
Unfurnished 10.5'*13' bedroom for rent in small Highland Park apartment, move-in August 1st. Room is 960, plus utilities (internet, water+power, and gas). Shared bathroom, washer and dryer in unit.
"Sun-drenched" is so overused but lots of windows + small floor plan = "man there's great light in here".
"Why does it look completely empty in the pictures?" my previous roommate lived here for 6 years and ALL of the furniture was hers. I am planning to purchase a dining table and what I've heard they're calling a "double chaise lounge" for the living room, but I also work fulltime so...I'm getting there. The space can be charming, I've lived it! My old roommate's bedframe is also available, if you need a bedframe.
Utilities are charged every other month and come out to about 175 each between two people. Apartment does not have central AC but each bedroom has a wall unit. Tile floors, a screen door, and a ceiling fan help keep the living room cool. I am working on getting management to put in new window screens for that sweet sweet airflow.
Walking distance to multiple bodegas, two big-box discount groceries, Las Cazuelas, and that cute little string of shops on Figueroa. A similar string of cute shops and another big-box grocery store are a hop skip and a jump away by bicycle on York Ave. You can walk to the Highland Park metro station, the 110's most notorious on-ramp is right down the block and the 2 and 134 are not too far away either! Wow!
About you:
I'm looking for someone on the quieter side, queer-friendly, no smoking or vaping in the house. I'm not a regular drinker and I'd prefer someone similar. If you're creative that's super cool. No furry pets unfortunately, I am allergic. Reptiles may be ok, I'd have to consult my lease.
I'm looking for someone who can return the kitchen to a nice baseline when they're done cooking, and who won't mind if I leave my printer on the floor in the living room for a couple of days. I don't mind if you forget to close the kitchen cabinets, I do it too.
Feel free to have friends over, but honestly the apartment is so small there's really not much room to Have a Party that is bigger than that. If you like to host regular gatherings of more than like four people, this is not your spot.
I work nights and I am generally home and active (cooking, showering, etc) between 11pm and 1 30 am, so if you are a light sleeper we may not be a good fit. Neighborhood can get a bit noisy on the weekends, but nothing that should keep you up. This is one of the most walkable places I've had the pleasure of living in for 10 years. Street parking only. Brush up on your parallel parking.
About me:
I'm a queer washed-up art school grad (some kind of they/them) with an active tumblr account in the year 2026, a dedication to being good natured, and a love for goofing around and also vacuuming. I currently work a cool 32 hrs/week at a pizza store, usually nights, and am studying automotive systems at PCC. If I'm not at work or the grocery store, I'm usually at home relaxing, trying to make art, messing around with a computer, or cooking a meal. You might hear me put music on and sing sometimes, but I'm a pretty good singer...or so I've heard.
I've lived here for almost a year. I'm a bit of a homebody and I can be a little slow to open up, but if we have the right things in common I become a yapper. I'm open to being friends, but if that's not your speed I'm ok just being friendly roommates as well. Text or email me to set up a meeting! I am typically available during the morning and early afternoon.
