Room Available in Furnished Mid-Century House - Tr

Howdy!

I have a room available starting November 1st in my 1960s hideaway in the hills of Elysian Park. We call it “The Disco Cabin” due to its 1960’s Lautner-esque architecture and retro décor. The home is tucked up in a secluded cul-de-sac and surrounded by trees and nature. It’s one of the quietest and coolest areas in LA (typically 10–15º cooler than the rest of the city).

It's a tranquil getaway, just minutes from the 5, 101, and Elysian Park Trail. The main house is a 2BD/1BA with a Japanese garden and a brick-laid patio with built-in wooden seating. Out back, there’s an ADU studio with its own private bathroom and balcony that I use as my workspace.

The neighborhood has a Topanga/Laurel Canyon feel, home to many famous artists and architects (The Jules Salkin House by John Lautner is a few houses over) There are also several accessible hiking trails, public gardens (best views of DTLA) and seventeen public steps/stairways (Baxter Steps is a nine-minute walk away)

I’m looking for a kind, responsible, and creative roommate who can appreciate the home and neighborhood for what they are. I feel I lucked out finding this space and it’s important to me to maintain a good relationship with the homeowner.

I’m a 36-year-old documentary filmmaker/DP/photographer. I travel often for work, and when I’m home, I usually spend most of my time working on projects in the studio out back - so the right person will often have the home to themselves. My ideal roommate is clean, self-aware, and comfortable helping look after the home while I’m away.

The available bedroom is currently set up as a second office but will be cleared out by November 1st. It has a private closet with built-in shelving and a high window that looks up the hill with nice sunrise light through the trees. The home is mostly furnished save for the available bedroom. I’m open to changes and additional furnishing - a roommate with a sense of style is a plus!

Additionally, I’m open to renting the master bedroom (not pictured) to the right couple, in which case I’d take the second bedroom. Since I’m not home often, this could be a great fit. We’d work out a different rate depending on use and access. Just putting it out there in case a friendly couple is looking!
