Private Room w/ Shared Bathroom

Hi there,

My current roommate and are looking for a third person to rent a private bedroom in our 3 bed/2 bath apartment in Culver City. We are looking for someone to move in as soon as possible, preferably this month (rent for April will be prorated per the date you move in).

Rent is $910 a month, plus an upfront deposit of one month’s rent.

About us:

I am a 32yo gay man, currently working as a Contractor with PG&E. I fly drones to conduct safety inspections of power lines. My work requires that I travel, so I will be away from the apartment most of the time.

The other tenant is a 40yo woman who works as a freelance DJ and occasionally travels for work. She owns an adorable black cat that lives at the apartment with us.

We’re both pretty chill and friendly people. We have a quiet lifestyle, but frequently chat and hang out in the common areas of the apartment.

About the place:

As mentioned, the apartment is 3 bed/2 bath. Your bedroom would be private, but you’d be sharing a bathroom with me.

Amenities include a full kitchen, a balcony, and a carport with two spaces. We both have cars, so we do our best to share the carport evenly whenever all three tenants are home. Street parking is also quite prevalent in our neighborhood.

As for utilities, water and trash are included but gas/electricity and internet are not. We also rent a few of our appliances. Each tenant will be responsible for administrating one utility, but the entire cost of utilities will be pooled and split evenly among the three of us.

As mentioned, we have black cat that lives with us. His name is Bernie and he’s very friendly. He’s getting quite old (I think he’s around 14yo now) but he’s pretty vivacious for his age. He is an indoor cat and is generally very well-behaved.

About the location:

The apartment is located in a safe, quiet neighborhood, comprised mostly of residential buildings and a nearby elementary school. There are quite a few shops, restaurants, cafes and grocery stores within walking distance.

Downtown Culver City is about 5-10 min away by car; Venice Beach is around 15-20 min away depending on traffic.

What we’re looking for in a roommate:

Someone between the ages of 23 and 45, preferably a woman or someone queer, but we are open to living with a straight man if it seems like a good fit (sorry, we don’t mean to sound heterophobic, we just tend to vibe better with women and queer people 😅).

The ideal roommate is kind, chill, responsible, and mature with a stable income. Please be aware that our landlord requires that all candidates submit for a background and credit check. The new tenant would also be required to sign a one-year lease.

We would also like that our roommate be ok with taking care of the cat whenever both of us are away. Bernie’s owner is seldom away for more than a week at a time, and duties would be limited to feeding and cleaning the litter box. He may also approach you for pets and attention when he wakes up from his naps, but otherwise he’s pretty low-maintenance. Of course, his owner understands that he is ultimately her responsibility, so we won’t be upset if you happen to be away or are too busy with work/life to provide adequate care. We can always arrange for a sitter if necessary.

While we love animals, we do ask that our new roommate not bring along any additional pets, as our cat is accustomed to living alone.
