Roommate sought for pleasant Chinatown apartment!
Hello! I'm looking for a new roommate for my lovely Chinatown Hill apartment, to begin paying rent on November 1. It's one of these places with an open-plan kitchen and living room plus half-bath downstairs, bedrooms and full bath upstairs. The building has three other units, all filled with relatively unobtrusive neighbors. A short walk from downtown, lots of public transit nearby, close to the 101, 110, 10, and 5 freeways (mixed blessing, but they're not so close that you can hear them). Central air conditioning, dishwasher, in-unit washer but no dryer, tandem parking.
The property management company will do standard checks, and they'll want another month's rent as a deposit. Rent is 1025 a month per person, internet is 55 a month per person, and the electric bill varies wildly by the season-- it's usually been less than 100 a month each, but our most recent bill was considerably more, owing to summer, climate change, my outgoing roommate liking the place to be quite cold, and me not wanting to make a thing out of it.
The pictures are of the downstairs space, and of the bedroom in question, albeit from two roommates ago when it was occupied by a tidier person, to give you a sense of its potential. The bedroom will not be furnished, the living room will remain roughly as you see it, although I'm open to change if you have a beloved piece or two you want to incorporate.
I am a 39 year old male writer, actor, and improviser, and for fun I dabble in furniture moving and catering delivery. In my spare time I play too many video games, watch too much TV, and read too many comic books. My best roommate relationships have been based in mutual consideration, respect, and common sense-- not breaking each other's things, gatherings only by mutual consent, headphones as a default for solitary media enjoyment, and so on. I do play multiple instruments, but usually when my roommate's not around to be bothered, and certainly not when they're trying to sleep. I'm also a medium-good cook, and often happy to share!
I sometimes find myself in Santa Barbara taking care of my mother, who is a cancer patient, so I need any roommate to be vaccinated and conscious of letting me know if you're not feeling well. Otherwise fully accepting of everybody, regardless of ethnicity, gender identity, sexuality, and so forth, if that needs to be said.
Your other roommate would be an adorable 14-year-old cat named Millie who thankfully doesn't have any destructive tendencies. She does get a little vocal around dinner time, but otherwise she's well-behaved. I take full responsibility for her for the most part-- I might ask you to feed and water her if I go out of town, but such occasions are rare. Unfortunately, she's never cohabitated with another non-human animal, and I don't want to subject her to that in her declining years, which is to say, sorry, no additional pets. Also best steer clear if you're allergic.
If all that sounds fine and you're not put off by my frankness or verbosity, drop me a line telling me about yourself and we'll arrange a visit!
