THE SPACE
We have a sunny, furnished room (~130 sq ft) available August 1st or after. It comes equipped with a full-size bed, desk, dresser, closet, window A/C, and ceiling fan. Rent is $950/month (single occupancy) or $1,250/month (double occupancy). Deposit is $475 (single) or $625 (double).

THE HOUSE
Casa Hendie is a 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom, owner-occupied home in Baldwin Park (91706), Los Angeles County. We have a spacious living room, den, fully-equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, yard with patio, BBQ, fire pit, and in-yard bicycle parking. Street parking is available; in-yard parking is sometimes possible.

We split utilities (~$70–$105/month) among housemates. What's included: common areas, weekly washer/dryer use, household consumables and natural cleaning supplies, a monthly house cleaning service, and a community food shelf.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD
The area is walkable with grocery stores, pharmacies, eateries, banks, a Starbucks, and a park (with pool and workout equipment) within a 7–15 minute walk. Bus lines nearby: Foothill Transit (190, 178, 272, 274, 488). Metrolink station: 15–20 minutes on foot. Close to freeways 605, 10, and 210.

For students or healthcare workers: We're near Mt Sac, Cal Poly, Rio Hondo, Citrus, Cal State LA, La Verne, PCC, Caltech, and APU. Hospitals include City of Hope, Kaiser Permanente, Emanate Health, and Arcadia Methodist.

WHO WE ARE
We're an inclusive, international, LGBTQIA+ friendly household born out of the Couchsurfing community. We frequently host travelers and organize house events (BBQs, birthday parties, game nights). Our current residents include 2 male-identifying and 2 female-identifying people. We believe in active participation in the household dynamic — this isn't just a place to hide in your room.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
You are:
* Independent and self-sufficient (you clean up after yourself daily without reminders, take out trash without being asked)
* A proactive, effective communicator
* Capable of handling conflict respectfully and directly
* Organized and tidy
* Someone who understands spatial efficiency in shared living

Non-negotiables:
* Non-smoker (no vapes, cigars, or e-cigarettes)
* Stable, verifiable income
* You must read, comprehend, and follow our household guidelines. We provide a guide, videos, and signs to support this.
* You actively participate in the household, not just occupy a room

PETS
No cats. Dogs are considered case-by-case with an additional fee.

THE SCREENING PROCESS

We prefer long-term renters (6+ months), but we're open to shorter stays.
