THE PLACE
Is perfect for someone who wants a conveniently located, comfortable, clean place to sleep. The apartment is just two blocks from the F and G train, which will take you to lower Manhattan in 35 minutes. Minutes away is the historic Green-wood Cemetery, which was the original template for Central Park as well as nearby Prospect Park which is a 25 minute walk away. Also available is our own "pocket garden" to enjoy during good weather.
THE ROOM
Two large windows provide bright natural light during the daytime. Blackout curtains for the evenings keep out light and noise (though there is not much noise here for a city location). The room is furnished with a full-size bed, large dresser, bedside dresser and small desk. The closet is just outside the room, next to the bathroom. During humid months, the room is equipped with A/C and there is a ceiling fan for year round breezes. Towels and linens are provided. The shared bathroom has both a bathtub and shower.
OTHER AMENITIES
The galley style kitchen is decently sized (for a city kitchen) and is equipped with all the necessary appliances (including dishwasher, washer and dryer) and equipment to cook. We just ask that you are mindful about what you use, always double-check that the gas burners are OFF when you’re done and clean up after yourself for the next person. We’ve got all the spices and condiments you may need and they are purchased from the Food Co Op, which is always super fresh and organic.
INTERACTION WITH GUESTS
We are a married couple (19 years!) in our early 50s and work mostly evenings. We are passionate about Nature, travel and great food. We enjoy meeting people from all over the world and for anyone who doesn't know, we will happily share the inside scoop on what makes Brooklyn the best borough ; )
We are Eco-conscious people and appreciate your help in maintaining a clean and toxin free home. We ask you to severely limit perfumes, colognes, lotions and sprays (because one of us is HIGHLY sensitive - allergic to most fragrances) and that you recycle as required by the city of NY. We use mostly green (hopefully NOT green washed!) chemicals for cleaning and cook mostly organic food. Street parking is not too difficult yet, but that is subject to change!
IDEALLY, YOU ARE...
Someone who works during the days and not remotely. You are looking for a place to relax at the end of the day. Sharing a good meal once in a while with your housemates is great, but you're not looking for a new best friend. You are already a bit of a neat freak, so are happy to do your part to keep the place neat and tidy. We'll take $100 off each month, for someone who will go the extra mile to share household chores.
Please note: You cannot be afraid of birds! We have two pet birds, Quito and Jamari who can be LOUD during daylight hours, but NEVER at night (they sleep 10-12 hours a night in their own room).
