Looking for a roommate to take over 1 bedroom in a 2-bed, 1-bath apartment starting 10/1. The apartment is on the 2nd floor of a brownstone. The room itself is quite large (in fact, the biggest in the apartment) and could fit any size bed. My current roommate has a full, plus a desk and chair, wardrobe, two side tables, book shelf, and a low bench with shelving. And yet there’s still plenty of floor space. Wow. There’s also a large closet and a decorative fireplace. Again, truly the crown jewel of the apartment. The room is at the front of the building, so it’s street facing. And if you’re into natural light you’ll be delighted to know it has three windows. The two bedrooms are separated by a den, hallway, and a bathroom so there’s a decent amount of space/privacy between the two. There’s also a second common/sitting area off the kitchen. Yes, we’re rich in places to hang.
The building is rent stabilized and the landlord is very responsive (I know). It’s 2 blocks from the Nostrand 3 stop or a 7-8 min walk to the 2, 3, 4, 5, S at Franklin. Want to walk even further? The Brooklyn Museum, Botanical Garden, BK Public Library, and Prospect Park are all a 12-15 min away. There’s no laundry in the building but there are several laundromats all within a few blocks, along with grocery stores, coffee shops, restaurants, etc.
Heat and hot water included. We’d split National Grid, Con Ed, and internet bills. No broker’s fee. You’d just need the first month’s rent and deposit.
Me: I’m a millennial woman who is a copywriter by day and aspiring (i. e. unsuccessful) comedy writer by night. I currently have a contract gig and go into the office 1-2 days a week and work from home the rest of the time. I’m pretty social but tend to do most of my socializing outside of the apartment (though I’m certainly not against having people over).
You: Any gender but huuuge preference for someone in their 30s or 40s (so sorry to discriminate, Gen Z); able to pay your bills on time (from gainful employment, independent wealth, or sorcery); respectful, clean, trustworthy, perhaps some fun chit-chat. In the end, I’m just looking for what we all want - basic human decency.
Thank you for reading this novella and good luck wherever your apartment hunt takes you!
