Seeking Clean Communal Queer and/or Trans Person for a 2-bed, 1-bath Crown Heights Apt near 2/3/4/5/A/C/S trains.

Hi there! I’m a queer nonbinary artist and professional looking for a respectful, considerate, and friendly person to share my home with (prefer another queer person) beginning June 1. Looking for someone who doesn’t work from home full-time (sorry!). Must be clean and anti-Zionist.

$1,800/month, no addt’l expenses.

The apartment is in a 6-unit building renovated in the 2010s, just one block from Franklin Ave, the heart of Crown Heights, with great restaurants, coffee shops, and bars. It’s a 15-minute walk to the Brooklyn Museum and Botanic Garden and a 20-minute walk to Prospect Park. A 5-minute walk to the Franklin Ave S at Park Pl, an 8-minute walk to the 2/3/4/5 trains at Franklin Ave, and a 10-minute walk to the A/C trains at Nostrand Ave.

I’m Sean (they/them), a 36-year-old queer nonbinary storyteller and nonprofit professional (Pisces sun, Cancer moon). I’ve lived in the apartment for 9 years and work from my room during the week. I practice yoga daily in the apartment, love cycling, music, dancing, working out, and hanging out with friends in the city. This is an incense-burning apartment (with an air purifier in the mix) where music is usually playing if I’m home. The available room has currently served as a spare guest room. I’m looking for someone friendly, clean, and emotionally mature for a 3-month sublease (June 1 - Aug 31). Extra ideal for someone excited about building queer community. No couples, cigarette smoking, or pets please.

Logistics: The cozy room is unfurnished and on the second floor (walk up), facing the backyard of a neighborhood bar downstairs with several trees and birds. The bar follows a community-voted closing of the backyard at 9 pm Sun-Thurs and 10 pm Friday and Saturday. The room gets a ton of east-facing sunlight, has one closet, and a window air conditioner (needs to be installed). Pics are a little old (the room is unfurnished, with a newer stainless steel stove and a couple of updated common area furnishings) to show what the room can look like furnished. The room fits a full bed and a dresser. The apartment is a 2-bdr with new fixtures, dishwasher, and exposed brick, two additional storage closets, and roof access. Laundromat is around the corner.

Rent is $1,800/month flat, no additional expenses. Will be subleasing from me for 3 months, with the possibility to renew longer if it’s a good fit. First month and security depository to move in (security same as rent).
