Seeking Roommate for 2BR Home in Crown Heights

Hello there!
My current roommate is moving out, and I’m seeking a female roommate to join me in renewing the lease on a 2 bed / 1 bath apartment in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, from December 1, 2025 to November 30, 2026.

🏠 About the Place
The apartment is in Crown Heights, about a 5–6 minute walk to the C line (Kingston-Throop) and a 13-minute walk to the 3 line (Kingston). There are plenty of corner stores and bodegas nearby, and a Super Foodtown just an 8-minute walk away. The apartment is also close to Fulton Avenue, which has lots of shops and restaurants, and Brower Park is just a 7-minute walk.
It’s on the first floor of a 4-story building, which has a washer and dryer in the basement (plus laundromats nearby for bulky items). The layout is unique — kind of a U-shape — with each bedroom on opposite ends for privacy. There are multiple entryways, but for safety and security, I ask that we use only the main entry door and keep the others permanently locked. Since the apartment is on the first floor, you’ll hear some foot traffic from other tenants coming and going, so if you’re a light sleeper or easily bothered by noise, this might not be the best fit.

🛏 Your Room
You’ll have the larger bedroom, which comes unfurnished and can comfortably fit a full or queen-size bed along with other furniture. The room doesn’t have a closet, but my current roommate is leaving behind a clothing rack that you’re welcome to keep.

Rent: $1,515/month (includes heat, water, and internet)

Utilities: We split electric evenly — usually $50–$120 per person, depending on the season (higher in summer when the AC is running).

Application: Proof of income and financial statements required by the property manager (no application fee). You'll need to pass the standard background check as well.

Move-in costs: First month’s rent + one month’s security deposit.

🧺 Shared Spaces
There are two additional rooms we share:

Home office: includes space for a small desk if you’d like your own setup.

Tiny storage room: used for coats, luggage, and extra items. It can also fit a twin air mattress for the occasional guest if we rearrange the room just right.

The apartment also has a large kitchen, a living room, and a cozy eating area. The living room is mostly furnished, except for a small coffee table and TV stand that my roommate will be taking. The kitchen will need some shared items replaced as well when she moves out, so I’d appreciate a new roommate who’s open to contributing to replacing shared items in the apartment.

Because we’re on the first floor, all windows have security bars. In the summer, you’ll need a portable AC for your room, since the windows can’t accommodate window units due to the bars. The home office window is the only one that can fit a window AC, so if you have one it can fit there!

🐾 Other Notes
Occasional guests are fine and we make sure to communicate that to each other in advance, but in general not having people over frequently on a weekly basis.

No couples or smoking, please.

Must be okay with dogs — my small family senior pup stays with me on and off. He’s quiet, friendly, and mostly naps all day. Sorry, no additional pets.

You’re a female who values a clean, peaceful home. You chip in for shared household items, keep common areas tidy, and take initiative with chores (no cleaning schedule needed). If you’re someone who needs to be reminded to clean up then this will not be a good fit, sorry!

I’m Diana, a latina in my late 30s, and I’ve been in the apartment for a year now. My background is in non-profit operations and I work from home full time. I love listening to music, going to concerts, seeing Broadway shows, playing video games, traveling, dancing, and going to the movies. My love language is definitely sending GIFs and hilarious IG videos.

I value maintaining a positive and respectful home environment. Ideally, I’d love a roommate who wants to be friendly and build a sense of home, instead of just two strangers living together. Someone who’s down for the occasional movie night, dinner/drinks, or a weekend adventure, while also respecting each other’s space. (Not a big deal if that’s not your vibe!)
