~Around the corner from C train, direct to Manhattan.
~Area has shopping, restaurants, and all amenities.
~Walking distance to Pratt Institute, Brooklyn Museum, Botanical Gardens, BAM, Barclay and Downtown Brooklyn Cultural District.

YOUR BEDROOM
This clean and quiet bedroom is approx. 11 ft. x 9ft., and features victorian details, beautiful hard-wood floors, a tall window (over an alley), and a high ceiling. It is also equipped with a recessed closet and a captain's bed (twin, extra-long) with deep built-in drawers and storage. If you want, you also have a small antique table that converts into a desk or bedside table, a small antique storage piece (originally an ice-box!), a chair and a rug. I also provide bedding. But you can make this room your own: anything but the bed can be removed from the room at your request.

THE LIVING ROOM
The living/dining room is comfortable, light (half the year) and lovely, though not huge. One passes through it to get to the kitchen, but you will have many opportunities to use it without being bothered, as I have my own living-work space at the other end of the apartment where I spend most of my time when home. (And most of the airbnb guests spend their time out and come back only to sleep).

THE APARTMENT SHARE & WHO I AM
Share roomy kitchen (w/dishwasher), furnished living/dining room, and bathroom with me. Note that I cannot offer you much cupboard space in the kitchen but you will get a few shelves.

I own the apartment and have one more extra room in which I host one airbnb guest at a time for an average of about 2 weeks out of every month. But when there is no guest, you can use that furnished den as an additional space to work or hang out in. There are shelves full of books and a small desk there.

I am an older (most likely) female visual-artist and former ESL teacher, now free-lancing as a designer and writer, also dabbling in interactive design, animation and small-scale video work, as well as digital learning design.

LONG TERM: THE ROOM-MATE I NEED
This living- arrangement would work best for someone in a transitional situation, as it is not a place where you would be able to redesign the shared space or keep all your worldly possessions. (Please don't bring a ton of kitchen supplies or more clothes than fit in one closet and several large drawers.)

I am hoping to find someone who is in New York for a substantial but temporary stay on a fellowship or an internship, a visiting professorship, a free-lancer who works in an outside office or studio space, or other professional, preferably in a field related to the arts. It would not be ideal if you work at home, since I work at home myself, but do-able. The small furnished room I use for airbnb guests doubles as an office space you are free to use when it is available.

Must be mature, respectful and considerate, responsible about using others' property as well as about shared domestic chores.

I will be looking for someone I feel comfortable with personally as well, and who I would enjoy a cup of tea or glass of wine with from time to time! I think you would probably want the same!

I am looking for someone to stay for a 6-month to a year period, but *might* accept short stays until I find the right fit. If you are vaccinated and careful about the COVID situation, please apply. I am, and want to stay, healthy.
