1 bedroom w two large windows in 3bdr
Hi all,
I am currently looking for a roommate to move in 6/1/26 (flexible) it’s a medium size room with two large windows that faces southish to a courtyard with trees. There is sunlight all day. The room currently has a dresser, two mirrors and a chair - you can buy the items or I can take them out. The bathroom/living room/kitchen is shared and furnished already. (We can talk about making room if you have an item(s)) the living room has a shared fire escape that I chill on fairly regularly. The apartment is literally feels like a treehouse in the summer when the leaves grow in. it’s the 3rd floor walk up in a 4 story building. laundry is in the basement, a courtyard with a firepit and roof access. We are in between gates and Halsey off the J train but walkable distance to L or AC and plenty of buses- B52, B26, B47, Q24 are some of the busses I take regularly. There are two cute parks close by and we have cafes all within 5 minutes walking distance. Building is full of young ish professionals and the neighborhood is great. The apartment is pro LGBTQIA with no exceptions. The price includes wifi and utilities like water, and central heat and AC. Been living in this apartment for a long time and I’m really looking for the right fit. Looking forward to meeting you !
A little about us the roommates.
I am 37, native New Yorker and been living in this apartment for a long time. I love it, I cook semi often and keep the place clean. I work in the office of a nonprofit that helps provide temporary shelter to survivors of domestic violence + their pets. My schedule is hybrid and I usually WFH Mondays and Fridays. My hobbies include relaxing, watching tv, yoga, working out, reading, grabbing a drink, riding my bike, sketching etc.. I’m a pretty mellow person but consider myself pretty political. I visit my mom or sister often as well as my extended family usually in the NE area.
Lex is 36 and has been living with me for a little more than a year. He works at the UN and has a mostly WFH schedule. Lex also, cooks and likes watching tv and is pretty artsy too.
Lex and I get along great - we watch shows together. He has a few of this plants in the main space that he takes care of regularly. He’s lived with me for a little over a year
Brooke 41, is the roommate that is leaving - we’re going to miss her very much but she was lucky to find an apartment closer to her workplace. We liked her bc we shared similar progressive values and we all loved getting together for a meal or just to gab about work or the state of the world. Brooke and I lived together for almost two years.
We expect shared and community oriented living agreement - we don’t have to be best friends but I don’t want to feel awkward being in my own house doing normal things. It’s very important to me that we all feel safe, and respected. We’re not a yelling house hold and would prefer someone willing to talk should issues arise. I have a roommate agreement as well ass sublease agreement. The roommate agreement highlights expectations between us, like not playing music too loud after a certain time or details in sharing items in the shared space or guests that you plan on bringing over. This document is living and can be edited - if you realize you don’t want anyone to talk to you in the .it would be best if you had a job and hobbies too. We’d prefer if you didn’t bring the party home but we get it sometimes you’ll have guests. We’d prefer a heads up text - this isn’t just going to be a you thing, Lex and I really try and keep each other informed about things that will affect the apt and each other. we are a 420 friendly apartment. Lex likes his bowl and I like my Js. We’re not hot boxing the apartment tho and try and keep the space comfortable as possible. Other things that are included in that roommate agreement is the dishes - I usually say a normal amount of time is 2 days of dirty dishes. I know we all go through our exhausting days and I try to be as forgiving as possible but we do have to consider that it IS NYC and it gets dusty and it attracts bugs / rodents. I’m pretty good with supplying traps, gels, soap etc
But I’d prefer a group effort. Another thing that is in the roommate agreement is that this is a toilet seat down then flush apartment. Just to keep the toilets particles from exploding everywhere. The sublease , highlights the legal aspects of the apartment. Month to month, rent total the inclusion of the utilities , etc
we’re open to pets as long as they’re decently trained. We know that accidents happen- I myself had a sweet angel puppy bear that pass recently after 13 years and have been considering adoption or fostering but she was a literal angel and I’m still grieving. I still have her bag and bowl out right now, you can see in the pictures - but I will find a way to make room if you have a fur baby.
Rent is due on the first and you pay me. The lease is under my name but you will sign a sublease and roommate agreement. The $1150 includes wifi and central AC and heat. The $ is rounded so in the extreme months I might ask for $25 or something from each of you. I never had to ask Brooke or Lex for any extra money, I just want to be as transparent as possible. Security deposit is required as well as first month. I’d prefer long term stay but I get it. Shyt happens. Please look up your commutes etc to make sure it’s a viable location. We are in Bedstuy and if you are unfamiliar with how this neighborhood is, I would say this may not be the place for you. I’ve never had any safety issues and been fine these past few years. I’m friendly with most of my neighbors and chill in the neighborhood often.
Please reach out if you feel like you fit! We’d prefer 30+ but we can be flexible. We’d love to meet and give you a tour and see if our vibes work well together. Feel free to ask me any questions. It’ll be me who you’ll be reaching out to. I have a little video I can share that I wasn’t able to upload here too.
