Room & bath in sunny, spacious Bed Stuy apt Nov 1

Room + bathroom for rent in a spacious, sunny Bed Stuy apartment a 7 min walk from the Bedford-Nostrand and Myrtle-Willoughby Gs. B38 and B54 buses also right here. Very central neighborhood.

Space: Apt is around 1000sq feet - a full floor. 2nd floor, no elevator.

No laundry on-site, but there's a laundromat across the street with the sweetest owners and they offer v. reasonable wash-and-fold they do themselves.

Large windows. My room / office is on the way opposite side of the apartment (I'm the only roommate).

The available room would fit a queen, but l'd suggest a full-sized bed for more space. On the smaller side. You can also add furniture on that side of the house (a desk or bookshelf etc.) - again, the apartment itself is a v large spot with no shared walls, real privacy, and room to play in the living room. Decent-sized closet.

There are two baths — yours *has a bathtub*!

Cats: I have an incredibly sweet, friendly, and affectionate cat, Punky! I keep all his cat stuff (food, litter) on my side of the apartment, but he will say hi! No other animals allowed.

You are: kind, considerate, easy to communicate with, independent, collaborative, and have an active life. You're politically left and care about your impact in the world (I'd prefer to share basic values with someone who shares my space), but you don't take yourself too seriously! You can pay rent on time, every time.

Someone who has their own active, creative life and self-care practice will prob be happiest here. I’m pretty woo woo (10 years in the Bay Area will do that) — you don’t have to be, but I do need you to be emotionally regulated and aware. Grownups only, please!

Me: she / they — pls be comfy with this or do not message. I’m friendly, creative, politically conscious, silly, warm, mildly chaotic, pretty grounded, and a geek. I love the arts, comedy, movement and energy work, etc. I have lately been binging Dr Who when I can steal a moment.

I’m an open and generous person, but I expect reciprocity, clear communication, and shared respect! I take a direct and lighthearted approach to communication.

During the day, I do freelance UX writing / design coaching, writing, and language tutoring from my office. I also make time for yoga / tai chi / virtual somatic training work, rehearse my show, and sometimes strum / sing between things (usually acoustic, and other side of house, meaning you can’t hear it from your room, but this building is quite musical).

I’m out a lot of evenings doing comedy and pretty locked into my stuff, but I appreciate a friendly and genuine moment to connect! I’m a comedian with nyc family, so like, I’m woo, but expect me to be down-to-earth and wisecracking and silly. I love ppl, but also need a lot of solo time and space to create and be, hence this larger apartment!

My walls are currently bare in the pics, but I’ve finally started putting up art. The furniture has shifted around. If we seem to click, come check it out.

The place is probably more suitable for folks who work outside the home day-to-day or most days, but it really depends.

Move-in: November 1st. Sublease term until end of May with possibility of renewal.
